It worked everybody! I used a corded dremel, ground the pin off got everything out and back it.

thank you so much to everybody!

Now to tackle the secondary air filter.

And does anybody have info on the little light in the top of the headlight assembly? I need to do that too!

lotsofspareparts and Iamian17 - I'm trying to remove my ignition switch for the "sticky key repair" and am having a lot of trouble. I've followed the pictorial on the "sticky key repair" and am trying to remove the pin that is close to the ignition switch clamp. I've used a Dremel with a stone, and with a burr. I've also used some different sized drill bits as per the pictorial. I just can't get rid of that pin. I'm doing a great job of enlarging the hole that the pin is in but can't get rid of the pin. How did you, or anyone else on here, get rid of the pin? I can't get the key to turn either. I guess because the pin is still in there. Access to the pin is not in a straight line as you probably know. Comments have been made that the pin is soft metal and will drill out easily. Mine must be case hardened steel! My XF is a 2005 model if that is important. I want to reuse my ignition switch and tumblers so the key's will work. The pictorial mentioned above shows removing the tumblers. I don't want to replace the tumblers, just remove the pin and spring affair that causes a sticky key. Can the pin that we're grinding on be punched out? Does the SKREEM ring antenna around the switch have to be in place for the key to turn? I'm really lost and getting nowhere. I am burning up a couple of drill bits though. tThat should make Home Depot happy. If you know what I'm doing wrong, or if anyone has any suggestions to help me get the ignition switch assembly out of the car, please let me know. I can be contacted by email at hoolligan1938@gmail.com or by a private message on this site,, or by a response here. Thanks in advance for any help you can send my way.

Jim
