ceramic coat
Greetings. I was wondering if any roadster enthusiast has had you car professionally ceramic coated and if so what is your opinion. Pros & cons or any pertinent input you may have.
Thanks very much, CrossEyedJack

I have a coupe and put clear vinyl wrap on the entire front end, bumper, fenders, hood, headlights and the windshield surround. It is also vinyl wrapped on the running boards and the wing ( it is an SRT6). I think the vinyl protects from chips better than the ceramic alone. Everything then was ceramic coated; going on four years. I use a foam cannon to wash it here at the house, but on the road I will use a do it yourself car wash. It is easy to keep up, but each year it gets a refurbish at the detail shop that did the vinyl and the ceramic. The yearly cost $250. The initial vinyl and ceramic is right at $4,000.The vinyl is Xpel ultimate plus and there are four coats of Ceramic Pro 9h and one addition pro light on the paint. It's not something you buy at the auto parts store and apply in the driveway. The after market chrome wheels have also been ceramic coated as has the wheel wells, and all the glass is protected by Glassparency. The car only had 6,000 miles when I bought it so it was a good platform to work on.
I do not regret spending the money on the protection. It has been really easy to take care of and is well protected from the elements (rain just flows off and no UV ray damage) when on the road. On long hauls I still use the original Chrysler black bra going and coming from Crossfire meets as I like the added protection from gravel kicked up from other cars and trucks. It still looks like new with the exception of a small chip on the windshield I got just a few miles from my home when I was headed to a car show a month past. My experience has been positive with the products and shop I dealt with.

Wow! your SRT sounds super. Thanks for the detailed information. Hadn't considered the vinyl. Now I have more to think about. Sounds like you go the distance when it comes to your Crossfire. I have a 2006 roadster {black}. I love the car and try to keep it as "pretty" as I can". Had 9,000 miles on it in 2000 when I got it. Thought a couple times about hunting for a quality SRT. A bit rare in Upstate NY. Now I'm 74 and just hope I can keep mine looking like new. Just love driving it and hope she outlast me. Again I thank you for your response. Enjoy your ride.
Best Regards, Jack

Once per year I wash then use the clay bar kit to pull all the pollutants out of the paint. Then I apply two coatings of liquor ceramic by Meguiar's 24 hours apart. I used to the same but with Canuba Wax. I liked the wax, too but the water beading seems to be stronger with Ceramic coating.
I think you would enjoy doing this yourself and not spending huge amounts of money (I know I do enjoy the process and the finished product).
In between washes, every so often, I re-apply a ceramic spray that just gets misted on while the car is wet. Works like a charm. There is different brands out there people swear by different brands but the concepts is the same.

Thank you for your input. I have been maintaining the car myself for years. IT's just I'm getting older and have a couple physical issues. Thats why I'm considering the ceramic. Still haven't decided, but again thank you for your reply.
