Default Gas?

Hi. I am going to purchase an aero blue SRT-6 coupe, but I was just wondering what octane of fuel is required to run this car. Thank you!

What's wrong with this picture?
Dad owns a million dollars worth of cars, and his "prodigy" wants to skimp on gasoline.

I'm not so sure that it sucks...are you? I pay 4% more for Premium over Midgrade (on average), which is what my 300M uses...and I get 14% better fuel economy...even driving like a Bat out of the Hot Regions in my Roadster...so from my perspective, the Roadster is my economy car...and there is no measure on my driving pleasure in the XF versus the 300M. In fact, I get a bit depressed when inclement weather forces me to drive the 300M.

Now...I haven't played with my XF fuel...only the best for Two Harleys...but in a recent 800 mile drive I switched from Midgrade to Regular (89 to 87 Octane), and got the best mileage I've had in the 300M at 30.0 MPG. What's up with that??

The problem with the picture is that "prodigy" has a job to pay for his own gasoline because "dad who owns a million dollars worth of cars" wants to teach "prodigy" responsibility. lol

Good for your Dad, there will come day when you will appreciate his wisdom, if you don't already. (But I would bet you do now)
I wish I had done a better job at teaching my daughter the value of $. (But now that she is working, she's getting a "crash course" on economics.)

As for using lower grade fuel in your car just to save a few cents a gallon, IMO it just isn't worth it.
It's true, your engine management system will automatically retard the timing to compensate for the lower octane level, but in doing so, it will then have a negative effect on your fuel mileage. Because your engine will not be operating at its peak efficiency. So in the end it's a trade off.
What you should ask yourself, "Is the few cents saved at the pump worth taking a chance on bigger problems down the road?"
If your dealer ever needs to pull the head off your engine, there will be telltale signs that inadequate octane was being used, and they will not hesitate to void your warranty.

Smokey, I didn't mean to get a laugh at your expense. It just struck me as odd that you, of all people, would be contemplating skimping on fuel costs.
You have to admit, your photos, and posts do give everybody the impression that you're fortunate enough to live a financially comfortable lifestyle.

Smokey, just for the record, You come off sounding like a nice guy, with a good head on your shoulders. (Certainly not stuck up) (or red neck) Didn't mean to make you think otherwise.
You're right, this forum is a great place for a bunch of like minded "car guys & gals" to joke around and have fun.
I don't take myself to seriously, so I automatically figure nobody else does either.
As Firebase D would put it, It's all good, and nothin but luv for ya brother! Hooha. LOL
