Default NEW SRT-6 owner (UK)

Hi all,

Anyone on here from the UK ?

I changed from a Subaru Impreza WRX STI PPP:
305 BHP
4.6: 0-60
12.8: 0-100
a quick car indeed.
I must say now I have 3,500 miles on the SRT-6 it is performing very well. I am just getting used to launching without traction control (in the dry) and 4.8 0-60 MPH is achievable. I also noticed that my GPS Satnav quotes exactly the same speed as the speedo (not the case with the Subaru which always read about 5 MPH too high).
Apart from the odd episode of catching the gearbox out around 20 MPH where it is between gears for performance so holds on to 2nd rather than drops to 1st. I find this car almost a quick as the Subaru, but prefer the constant push without any let off, all the way until you take your foot off the gas.
The auto box is pretty good by all accounts and is quite quick to change down either automatically or manually. I have changed the Air Filters to K&N's and seem to have noticed a slight improvement in the low to mid range rev bands. Also I run Shell V-Power (99 ron).
Off the public road I have timed 80-100 in 3.5 sec's when manually changing to 3rd. The Subaru was 3.6, so the crossfire wins there when rolling.

a couple of questions, if anyone can help please:
I have had the odd episode when flooring (at lowish speeds) it and the gearbox seemed a bit confused and when changing to the next gear, it does so quite mechanically with a delay. Does anyone know what this could be ?

Also I seem to have quite alot of feathering on the outside edges of the front tyres, is this normal ?

Anyway, enough about my car...

Si

Hi Simon,

I am not from the UK but my wife is. We are going back next month for a visit. Thorpe Bay in Essex. Where abouts are you?

We just bought a SRT6 Coupe a couple weeks ago. It only had 9,950 miles on it. Now over 11K. Fun car. The transmission acts the way yours does. I wish it had a manual but then the wife would not have let us buy it. My other driver is a slightly modified 2002 WRX. I think the scooby is faster up to about 70 but then the SRT really moves out. I too was very impressed at the Crossfire 80 mph+ acceleration.

Cheers for the reply. Good to know My Gearbox is not "busted" and others do the same.
What about your front tyres? Are they badly feathered on the outside edges ?

Cheers,

Si

PS - I'm in Hampshire and still not seen another SRT-6 on the road.
