Default Smaller Rear Spoiler for SRT-6

I was thinking that the SRT-6 spoiler stole the boat tail design of the Crossfire.

Maybe if we can have a smaller Techart spoiler like the Porsche Boxster and maybe it'll look good in keeping the boat tail design.

Any photoshop will be great and maybe we can send it over to CTD-Germany for production!

I agree 100% with you. Something like this would look much better. Maybe I would even consider the SRT.

Something this small that does not wrap around the rear of the SRT-6 boat tail.

i did not like the srt wing when I first purchased my srt either, but it has really grown on me and I would not most likely not replace it with anything different... I think in time you will feel the same way... give it a chance...

4) Drive.

Several things you will notice.
a) Instability over 85 MPH
b) Tail breaks quicker and easier in curves over 40 mph
c) Increase in 0-60 and 1/4 mile runs due to increased drag.

The Wing is functional not cosmetic, a team of nice Germans worked on 14 protoypes before they picked this one, trust their judgement...even if you think its ugly or ricer.
What about the pop-out wing of the standard X-fire?

Chrysler also quoted that the SRT wing is completely purposeful. If the SRT had the standard Crossfire wing, it takes too long for it to deploy, and the SRT would already be at speeds requiring downforce. :]

But the question is why such a huge whaletail wing? It seems like they made this one in a hurry without consulting the car's designer!

It can still be purposeful and grand!

I would love to hear Eric's (Creator) opinion on it.

I am on board with Sidez (maybe it is a Jersey thing). I did not like the wing when I bought the car a year ago. I considered the ramifications of removing it. Fortunately, I did nothing. Now I think a Crossfire looks strange WITHOUT a wing.

I'm with the crowd that thinks the wing MAKES the SRT6.

Not only that... there have been several threads on the 'Functionality' of the SRT and Standard wings.

BOTH are functional. The Standard wing, if I remember correctly provides 40 pounds of downforce at 100 MPH. Allowing the car to be more stable over 85 MPH and through the slower twistys we love so much.

The SRT wing provides 120 pounds of downforce at 100 MPH and is ALWAYS there. This verifies what Smokey847 said about the standard wing not deploying quick enough. By the time it came up the car would have been unstable for several seconds... seconds that could cost a driver their life.

The SRT wing WAS designed by the car designers and engineers... notice the continuation of the 'Strakes' in it's shape... the way it wraps around the body.

Just ask HDDP... he put a 'ricer' type wing on his race prepped Crossfire for function alone and it does it's job. Rated at 400 pounds of downforce at 100 MPH. He has been able to carry higher speeds through sweeping turns. Function... function... function.

The SRT wing is form and function. Period.

I would agree with the idea that the rear spoiler makes the SRT-6 look
so much better than the base/limited spoiler. A problem, minor though
it is, that I've always had with the exaggerated boat tail is that it kind of
makes the car look like a dog with its tail between its legs. The fixed rear
spoiler on the SRT rectifies this quite nicely, IMHO.

I think with the Startech V8 with 420+ hp have proven something behind the functionality of the SRT-6 wing. With a much bigger displacement and faster engine, the Limited wing with the addition of another smaller rear spoiler made the Startech V8 possible!

Startech is a Mercedes tuner and with the speed of 420+ hp, why did they not include a whale type wing to be able to make the Startech Crossfire perform well and safe to drive?

you bring up a good point, BUT... the question is did startech really create this car? I have never seen a single picture... excluding the photoshop images... I think that whole startech 6.1 was nothing more than an idea that they could put into reality if someone was to pay their price which was/is exceptionally high for the relatively marginal gains...

I am not stating that our wing is what stabilizes the car and I am not stating that is not... I do not know all I am saying is give the wing a chance drive with it for a good month if you still do not like it... than I guess your best bet is to have it replaced with something else...
