from 4 to 6
Hi, I'm thinking about going from an srt-4 neon that I have now to an srt-6. Now my question is, how much of an improvement am I going to see, besides the obvious, like for example, how does it handle by comparison? Acceleration, and overall quality of the vehicle. Don't get me wrong, I love my car for what it is, but I think its time to move on to something more refined, so please give me your comments, thoughts, suggestions. Oh and by the way did the insurance go up or down or did it stay the same.
I did the move from a modded srt 4 to a srt6.
a 2004 SRT-4... and i loved it. I had quite a bit invested into it.

When I autox, i swap out my rims to 17x7 Centerline Storm Rims wrapped in Azenis RT-615. And when i hit the 1/4 mile track, i'll go with BFG DR's with stock rims.
It was a great car... I ran 13.4 @ 108 on street tires, if i would of tuned the car and leaned it out some, i would of been a lot faster When i Autox, it handled like it was on rails with the 36 way CO's, but the day to day driving was really hash.
I made the jump, and it was NIGHT and DAY difference... Though i think i could of probably run 12's on slicks with the srt4, i ran 13.06 on all season conti tires while being 100% stock, infact i still had the dealer plates on the car. The handling is responsive and very livable.
I run a SRT club in chicago and trying to get others to jump the srt4 ship and jump up to the srt6.

I'm about to do the same upgrade. I currently have my Commemorative Edition SRT-4 for sale. I've got two people coming to look at it this weekend, so hopefully I'll be picking up an SRT-6 in the next couple of weeks. I've wanted an SRT-6 ever since I drove it a the SRT Track Experience. I just figured they were out of my league price wise. After looking around recently I noticed how much they have dropped in price and my mind was made up. It's good to be a dealer, so I'll be picking one up at auctions hopefully for $20-21K for one with little if any mileage. I saw one run the other day at Mannheim Auction with 6 miles on it that sold for $20,700! Hopefully there are still a few still out there when I'm ready.
Not knowing what the SRT-4 Neons insure for ..., I upgraded from my 2002 Miata SE auto-x'r to my "new" '05 SRT-6 Roadster and my insurance went up about $10/month. I was expecting much more. I'm sure insurance companies all differ, and it really would depend on MANY factors. I was pleasantly surprised.
Where in FL ...???

I've been checking around for insurance on the SRT-6 VS. the SRT-4. My current company (progressive) wants about $30 more per month for the Crossfire than the SRT-4. Geico quoted me about $52 a month less for the Crossfire, so rates will vary wildly. Shop around. I'm definitely going with the Geico policy. Only $60 a month for good coverage.
Well I guess its time I post. Been reading these boards for a while, and I too am making the jump from an srt 4 to an srt6. I had a 98 neon with a srt swap motor in it, but I will be graduating college here next summer, and it times to get that new car I've always wanted. I was set on an SRT 4 for being a new car, but saw that the Crossfires dropped so much in price, I can't pass this up. Off the wall question, does anyone know why the price dropped so much? Only thing I could think of was due to the selling of chrysler.

a month for a 46 yr. old behind the wheel. This is full coverage, with a $500
deductible. And, multi-car discount. However, I did get this policy in Oct of
2004, and you may do better. I, myself, will be re-negotiating this real
soon.

el_loco, I did the same maneuver. I came from a 2004 silver Dodge Neon SRT-4 with Stage 3 and a fully upgraded suspension. Needless to say, I grew out of FWD real fast. Get the SRT-6. Trust me, as much as I loved my SRT-4 it was the best move I ever made.
rydiak thanx for your wise words, that's what I was looking for, someone who was in my position. my thing now is, how much will I miss the stick shift, and how good does that auto really feel

dude, you and me are on par with the srt6. That's exactly what I wanted to hear because what I love is the fact that I can go WOT in any gear, and if you say it downshifts very fast then that's good to. I think I'm gonna be alright, now if that damn lady from state farm would hurry and get back from vacation, I can get things under way.
