Default How much is the going rate for the 8 yr/80K certification?

I'm looking to buy an SRT (as most of you already know).

So, what does the 8 yr/80K certification typically cost on a car with less than 100 miles?

I've received 4 or 5 different prices on similar mileage cars for the 8 yr/80K warranty.

One guy said it is only about $180.
Another guy said it can be $400 - $1,400 depending on what it takes to make the car 'like new' again.
Another guy said around $500.

Do all of these warranties add a 3 month/3K mile bumper-bumper like mentioned by TodK? Or is that just something offered at Tom Ahl?

These cars have between 14 miles and 80 miles, so there is no major defects. It is basically a new car.

I'm trying to figure a payment and work a deal on an out-of-town vehicle, and want as much ammo as possible before I drive 5 hours to the stealership.

Thanks in advance,
SQ

Base warranty on SRT6 is 3/36. The extended warranty starts at purchase so a 7/70 only really adds 4 years. Each warranty firm does different things. Some are OK, some are junk. A Chrysler warranty is costly but no doubt the best. Read the fine print on coverage items. SRT6's are complicated engine-wise so make sure lots of stuff is covered there. Best to find the warranty holder and run a Google search on whether there are complaints and so forth. WarrantyDirect.com is one outfit. Don't know if they are any good or not.

The warranty I am referring to is the Chrysler 'Certified' warranty.

The SRT's didn't come with the 7/70 warranty from the factory.

Several of the dealers with these 'buy back' SRT's are offering the 8 yr/80K Certified Chrysler Powertrain warranty, which apparently comes with a 3 month/3K mile bumper-bumper warranty as well.

My concern is that each dealer is quoting me different prices. I'm just trying to get an actual cost for this warranty.

For the record, I plan to go with the Certified warranty, not aftermarket.

Thanks for the help.

Shawn, I bought an SRT, from Tom Ahl, a week ago. Tom Ahl is a 5 star certified dealership and as such can certify their used cars (including the new/used crossfires). After they certify it they give an additional 3 month 3,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty added to the remainder of the original factory warranty, they also give an 8 yr. 80,000 mile powertrain warranty. Both of these are included in the price of the car, no extra charge. I don't know if all dealerships do that or not but I do know you have to be a 5 star certified chrysler dealer to certify the cars. You can also buy an additional 8 yr. 80,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty or an 8 yr. 100,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty which, like the powertrain warranty, has a $100 deductible.
