Is an SRT6 worth it?
Is an SRT6 worth it?
Hello all. been lurking and getting closer and closer to buying my xfire. I have to have a convertible, but my question is this. Is it really worth the $7,000 bump in price to go from a limited vert to an SRT6 vert? I am looking for opinions here. I like the big wing, but it would seem like the limited wing would be more expensive since it's motorized. I like the looks of the limited wheels better, and I like the interior of the limited better. Former SRT-4 owner who loves boost FWIW. This would be the most money I have ever spent for a 115 HP upgrade. Thanks for your help with my decision. Glad the forum is back.

if you plan on ever doing engine work cause you mentioned prior srt-4 ownership and you mentioned 7k is the most you have paid for 115 horse... than that alone should make it worth it as gain horse on a crossfire is no easy task...
all in all... i have to say it is too damn worth it...

Re: Is an SRT6 worth it?
ummm, HELL YEAH!
If you are true performance junkie like myself, I predict you would get board with the Limited fairly quickly. They are still great for autocrossing, but the SRT-6 is where it's at from a stupid S&%T Eating Grin factor! You won't be sorry you spent the extra, I promise. The only other reason I could see to get the Limited is to have one with a 6-Speed.

Re: Is an SRT6 worth it?
I traded a stock '99 NB Miata for a Limited Crossfire Roadster and haven't regretted the change for a second. Yes, the SRT6 has a boatload more power but for me the Crossfire is just a weekend toy and I needed the manual gearbox, so an SRT6 was out for me.
I'm curious though about a couple of things: your Miata 5.0 yet you mention owning an SRT4 - do you have both and are looking to replace one of them? And does the "SRT4 Convert" in your sig line mean you are a convert to the SRT4 or what, since obviously there is no such thing as an SRT4 Convertible. Just looking for clarification here, that's all. And if you do own a Miata with a 5.0 swap in it, depending on what you've done to the suspension I'd say the Crossfire is a better riding car than a Miata with much more ultimate grip than the little Mazda as well. All in all a terrific handling car if you ask me!

exactly the same (with color changes allowed) as that of the limited. How
could you like one over the other? And, though I guess each person has
their own taste, I don't see how you could like the limited's wheels better
than the 15 spoke SRT-6 wheels. Unless, you just like the easier cleaning
with the limited wheels. And, really, the SRT-6 coupe at MSRP is 8 grand
more than the limited 'vert, while the SRT-6 'vert is 5 grand more than the
SRT-6 coupe. Of course it's a great deal. Take the plunge and go with
the SRT-6.

It really depends on what you want in the car. The SRT6 is a fantastic value and car. Great HP, better brakes, front dam, (not to contradict my fellow forum member) but the seats are suede with the SRT6 badge sewn in - but otherwise the same interior.
I will eventually get one (SRT6), but for now, since i drive mine everyday (and love it) so for me the price of fuel is a consideration @ 60 mi a day to and from work, for this reason, i'm keeping my aero blue beauty.

Re: Is an SRT6 worth it?
I have a modified stage 3 SRT-4 and an SRT-6. Love them both, but for handling and braking "out of the box", the SRT6 wins. Gas mileage though, the SRT4 wins... (25 mpg mixed town/freeway) ... From a roll, they pretty much are dead even with the SRT-4 gaining on the top end due to Stage 3, 23 lbs of boost with an AGP wastegate, 3" exhaust, and less weight. Sex appeal definitely goes to the SRT-6. Hauling kids and lumber goes to the SRT-4... You can never get it all in one vehicle.

Congrats! You are the first person on this forum to be rude for no reason at all other than to try to look cool. Good job. I have seen several limiteds with gorgeous leather, colored seats. Red, White, etc.

Good one! HEHEHE but it ain't just suede inserts it's a two tone interior. If there's one thing you should do before you make a rude crack, it's know what the hell you're talking about.

little difference... and when it comes to choosing between and SRT-6 and
a limited, the only question should be "Can I afford the SRT". If that is
answered affirmatively, then there's no need to ask any other questions.
So, I asked... but I'm never rude without reason. And, in particular,
I was very mild in my question. BTW, is there a trophy as well as the pat
on the back?
So, perhaps we can put this behind us, and be more amicable?

could be ordered with Cedar seats and accents. Don't blow a gasket, now,
but the SRT-6 was originally billed as having everything that the limited
did, but more power (and due to more power, only auto trans).
