If you're driving the coast, make a reservation at the SeaQuest B&B in Yachats, Oregon. On the beach, about the same latitude as Eugene or Bend. Really nice place to stay and relax for a while.

Be sure to cruise the streets in La Jolla that are ocean side.

Carmel - Highlands Inn - Pacific's Edge Restaurant.
Best view and drinks on the planet at the same time.
Make that the next xfire GTG and count me in.

Try hitting the Tillamook Air museum (inside a WWII blimp hanger, largest free-span wood building in the world). And/or the Tillamook cheese factory - both just south of the Oregon/Washington border. If wanted to get about 90 minutes east of 101 you could stop in at Micminnville, Oregon and see Howard Hues Spruce Goose at the Evergreen Aviation Museum - absolutely awesome display. And can be a good drive from the coast through wine/farming country with rolling hills and small towns. Heck if it was a weekend that you were coming thru I'd meet up with ya! Should be able to find those museums on line - if not, let me know!
