Default Byron Dragway results from today...

I installed the "needswings" intake last night and I knew right away the car has a seat of the pants difference. Well, I was right!

I ran a 12.9@107 today! 60 ft. was 1.91 consistently and weather was mid 60's. DA was around 1,400...

I will be doing a review on the needswings intake shortly but overall I am VERY impressed with it.

Nice job. When can I get my hands on one of those intakes?

SWEET!!! I knew these cars would benefit from a better air filter system. Congratulations!

Chi-Town what time did you leave the track? We didn't get there until 2:00, I was really hoping to see a Crossfire go down the track and I would have liked to meet you, hopefully today. It sounds like from your 60' times you didn't have any traction problems? The track seemed really greasy by the time we got there, which is why we decided to go a little later in the day, so hopefully the track would be a little better.

I left at around noon. I got 3 runs in and was happy so I rolled out. How did you friends car run? I got my runs on video and will post soon. Track was sticky IMO. No problems with traction at all.

Great times. Did you adjust rear tire pressure at all?

Steve

No. Just a really nasty burnout before I went. Pressure was at 36 psi.

Chi-Town,

When you do a nasty burnout, are you experiencing 1-tire-fire (one wheel spinning)?

I would do a quick burnout when I launched, but nothing excessive. I was under the impression that these cars had an open rear axle, but I could clearly feel the car sliding sideways when doing the burnout, which usually means two are spinning.

Also, what tires do you have?

What was your launch method?

Traction on or off?
Launching in 1 or D?

People were telling me that only one of my wheels were spinning! I have done several burnouts in my neighborhood and left patches with two tire marks...
So I am confused on that, can you explain it?

I have the Pilot Sports.

Launch method was traction control off, launching in 1st at 1,500 RPMS (foot on brake and then releasing).

And you weren't spinning like crazy when doing this?

My car was spinning really bad from 1,000 rpm, or 1,200 rpm, 1,500 would be even worse.

Maybe I need to do a little more burnout - but I think my track was just really slick. I couldn't 60 ft worth a crap...

Maybe it's the sprint booster...Your trap speed is better than mine but good times all lie in the 60 ft.

I plan to pull off the sprint booster next time out and see if it helps. I forgot about that...but you're likely right.

I may go on Wednesday if the weather is right. Problem is, all of our running is at night so the track usually isn't very sticky.

I think once you pull the booster off your traction problems will go away. IMO the SRT/6 has good traction. Any car that can pull a low 1.9 60 ft with stock tires has decent traction. I bet I could have got a high 1.8 by taking some pressure out of the tires but I left them at 36 psi. I plan on going again next weekend so maybe i'll give that a shot. Let us know how you run.

Too bad I missed ya, maybe next time. My buddies truck is all wheel drive so traction wasn't a problem for him, but it seemed a lot of people weren't hooking up like they should. He got three runs in and the best he could come up with was a 12.38, 1/100th quicker than his record pass I believe, but we still have a few more cards to play. His last pass the boost fell off around the 1/8th so there is some kind of a problem, haven't talked to him yet to see if he found the problem or not. I think the problem with his truck is simple. If we get it ironed out maybe we'll be back out there next weekend also, so hopefully I'll see you then.

I hope it's cold and dry next saturday and maybe I can hit a 12.7-12.8!
