What's your best gas mileage??
What's the best miles per gallon you've gotten out of a full tank of gas - I'm assuming this would be on the Highway driving 65-70 ish.
So far I have not been able to drive a full tank without putting the peddle all the way to the floor. |
Re: What's your best gas mileage??
To be honest with you I don't care! It's too hard to drive the car slow... Plus I put 93 octane in her, and I'm not going to putz around!

Re: What's your best gas mileage??
26.7 all highway. I usually see about 24-25 on the highway. I average about 20-21 all around.

Re: What's your best gas mileage??
Damn neverenough, that's really good IMO. I get 17 average... I have a lead foot though. But even conservatively I'll only get 20-21.
That's before the new pulley, intake, shaved heads, and headers... I haven't driven it enough yet to see what it would be now. But before, with just the ASP pulley and ECU that's what I'd get. |
Re: What's your best gas mileage??
I'm having trouble getting it to 20 mpg as it is...but I did do around 21 once.
I'm hoping more miles will 'break her in' better and allow better mileage, although I'm not too terribly concerned about it! I do think this car would REALLY benefit from a 6th gear on the highway... SQ |

Re: What's your best gas mileage??
Averaging about 80 I saw 23.6 mpg on a tank on a recent long trip. This was with about 4k miles on the clock...

Re: What's your best gas mileage??
I only have 2,600 miles on my SRT6. I still haven't had a tank where I wasn't mashing on the gas every time I needed a little boost to get through traffic. :D There's nothing wrong with a little spirited driving every once in a while, right?
My best tank was around 21 MPG. My worst, around 15 MPG. I can't get 93 octane here, which brings my numbers down a little. |
Re: What's your best gas mileage??
I used to get about 20-24 mpg in my '04, when I started driving the SRT6 I noticed quickly how much more gas it used, mainly because of my right foot enjoying the response of the SRT. Now that I learned that I avg. about 18-22 mpg again mixed 60 hwy 40 surface streets.

Re: What's your best gas mileage??
I just filled up this morning. On 10-19 I got 23.6 mpg today I got 22.3 mpg. That 0-75 mph twice a day will get you but that's one of the reasons to drive a Crossfire! :p

Re: What's your best gas mileage??
Have some up to the minute figures for you.
From Hot Springs, SD to Casper WY - 25.5 MPG. From Casper to Evanston, WY - 26.3 MPG. From Evanston to Fillmore, UT - 27.8 MPG. From Fillmore to Barstow, CA - 26.2 MPG. About the first third of the trip was done at 65 mph but I'm guessing that the lower mpg was due to the hilly terrain. Last two thirds was mostly 75 mph with a lot of downhill traveling on the Fillmore segment. The whole trip I was constantly slowing down through construction projects so had to step on the gas to accelerate back to the speed limit. Also was stepping on the gas to pass trucks (did you know that the SRT6 can go from around 60 to 107 in the length of two tractor trailers while going uphill?). Just a few notes - a member in another thread wrote how the car speed can creep up on you. No kidding, pass some trucks going uphill and if you're not careful you will easily be doing 20 over the speed limit. Absolutely nothing fazes the cruise control. Uphill speed, uphill gradient, uphill distance - the cruise control just laughs and holds the selected speed. Impressive. The cruise control also accelerates the car with a touch of authority. Middle-aged women across the midwest insist on calling the Crossfire "cute". It's a sports car! It's not suppose to be cute! Arizona welcomes visitors with a big colorful sign. Utah threatens truckers with storm troopers if they don't pull their rigs over to the truck scales when entering the state. Doing 80 from Las Vegas to Barstow means you will be the slowest driver on the road. The Crossfire is an extraordinarily uncomfortable car to sleep in. |
Re: What's your best gas mileage??
Let's see my screen name is "Leadfoot" I'll bet you I get crappy mileage. I average 19-20 with equally mixed driving. Mixed driving being defined as sometimes I mash the pedal to the floor and sometimes I don't. It doesn't matter if I drive all highway or all city. Mashed or not Mashed that is the question.

Re: What's your best gas mileage??
I average 19-20 no matter if I drive city/highway, nice/hard... don't get it.

Re: What's your best gas mileage??
Okay guys and gals. This is your free opportunity to make fun of the rookie here. I have an '04, so obviously not an SRT. I have gotten as high as 36 and change for gas mileage, but average in the mid to high 20's of course based on how I drive it. The H2 that I drove got about 12 to 16 until I put a vortech supercharger on it and then I was up into the 20's and on the highway about 24. Why does the srt get such low gas mileage for being a well designed supercharged and intercooled motor? Now I am not a person to cry about gas mileage as I love to drive my '72 chevelle and have a "gas pedal" issue. Just a question and hoping for a grand answer.

Re: What's your best gas mileage??
well got around 1,800 miles now, best i can tell mixed driving.
like leadfoot ... floored it not to floor around 22 mpg. |
Re: What's your best gas mileage??
I get 18 mpg - usually drive 70-80 on the highway, 50% street & hwy, floor it at least 3 times a day. Have not been able to drive one tank without nailing the pedal to the floor - I may just give up on trying. :-)

Re: What's your best gas mileage??
Wow. After 4,250 miles, I average 19.3 mpg. My best was 22.8 and worst was 17.4. I drive at least 75% highway. I guess I just can't keep my foot out of it! :p I sure don't know how some of you are getting 25+

Re: What's your best gas mileage??
Putting it another way:
For every gradation on the fuel gauge I reckon on 40 miles in town and 50 on highway. So 240 to 300 miles per tank. I 'gun' it regularly. As US and Imperial gallons are different and 95 octane is standard over in the UK; MPG comparisons from me are a bit misleading. If I want to pay about 10% more I can get 98 octane at most filling stations but then UK prices are the equivalent of about $8US per gallon already, for 95 octane. If I fill the tank from (really) empty it's the equivalent of about $120US :( :( :( Still, the odd time I do put a fill of 98 octane in and it goes like stink :p. There are no track facilities in Northern Ireland but it would be interesting to see how the higher octane fuel boosts the performance on the standing quarter for stock build. |
