Default Bonham Chrysler Texas

I live in NY and have decided to buy a SRT from the above dealer. Does anyone have any experience with this dealer. Their prices are probably the cheapest I've come across, and was looking for any information on them. Thanks.

I purchased my SRT there about 4 weeks ago. Got a great deal but I would never purchase one without test driving and seeing it first. My experience with them was very good but I had done a lot of homework on the dealer and what I wanted. Which SRT are you looking at buying? They have a great selection...while they last!

The charcoal grey SRT coupe. I put a deposit on it and will fly out there to make sure it is fine no damage or anything.

Actually, I have been thinking about doing the same thing. Let us know how it works out. Particularly about the paperwork flow and service. BTW, I did a CarFax on all their low mileage SRT6 and they're all fine.

I talked to them on the phone and they sounded like they could care one way or the other.

Crossbow,
They aren't really pushing the low mileage SRT's because they seem to be moving at this price. They had about four more low mileage ones last week. I went for Charcoal grey and it was the last one left. I think they now only have 3 blues and 1 silver that are in the 20-50 mile range. They are very laid back on the phone and they don't try and push a sale. Different then here in NY.

I too wanted a charcoal grey one that I saw online. Then I got there and one had a big gash on the drivers door, the other was scratched on the bumper from parking to close to a chain. I searched over their entire inventory and between the silver and grey I chose a silver one because it appeared to be in the best condition. After I got it home I discovered a gash in the driver's seat, no tire pressure sensors on the front tires(they said they were just low) and a few scratches by the door handle. I am currently in the process of trying to work something out with them to fix the tire and seat issue, but it may be too late. For the price it was still a great deal. Just make sure you look at each one carefully. I bought mine two months ago and they had several to choose from. The numbers are probably less by now, so choose wisely.

I have purchased two cars from them and have had very good experience and relations with them. I have a friend that lives up there and I bought my cars from one of his relatives that worked there. They have been really good on prices. I ordered a PT Cruiser and waited 9 months for the danged thing. Even when they were first out and most dealers sold them for way over list I got a great price below sticker on a special order.

I tried to buy a Crossfire from them when I was buying but I couldn't get the silly woman I was dealing with to work with me to get a car. Oddly enough now they have lots of them. Shrug...

Still I would recommend them without hesitation. Their service department always bent over backwards for me. Once I drove from Dallas without my wallet and they had no problem billing me for the work they did. They even fed me lunch.

Another time I called late on a Saturday afternoon just before they closed. I was at my friend's farm North of Bonham and I had locked my keys in my truck with it running. (it was easier than I thought to do) They had a service man that lived over the border in Oklahoma to drop by and open the truck for me on the way home. - no charge.

I know you live in New York and service is not an issue.

Red face Re: Bonham Chrysler Texas

I was reading the CarFax on them and they are all Chrysler stock that they auctioned off. It appears that Chrysler doesn't have any of the SRT6 left at all.

I may go somewhere closer since it is about 1,700 miles from me here in Maine. It would be interesting to here about your trip. If you want CarFax info on one of the ones I was looking at, send me the VIN in a email - same name at pivot.net

This Dealership is a joke. The prices are very good but dealing with them, finding a car that is not damaged etc is very frustrating. Avoid MARY at all cost.
John isn't much better.

At the time (two months ago) I wanna say between 22-40 miles. Mine only had like 28 when I drove it off.

I bought mine from greenville chrysler 10/6/07 talked to michael rusch the internet sales guy... it was brought down from bonham chrysler (one of their other dealerships) when it got there it had 150 miles on it... interior was perfect... everything was great except for the usual headlight haze and there was a small swirl on the paint by the headlight (something that looks like will compound out or color sand out)... no problems at all... the guys were great they gave me what I wanted on my trade (an srt-4)... it was the cheapest "new" one on the site $23.999, had no problems no gashes in the door, runs excellent the way it should (feels as fast as my 12.8 srt-4 did)... didn't have to deal with them told them I wanted payoff on my car (14.5k) and that I could get 6.6% interest through my bank... so they matched it... I had been watching the car for about 6 months and it started around 29000 or so, so I didn't feel the need to haggle on the price of it lol... it was a chrysler auction vehicle... all that to say I had a great experience with them at least going through micheal at greenville chrysler to get a car from bonham. Later.

I purchased my Graphite SRT6 for $25,000 including dealer fees from Dust Bowl Bonham September 15, 2007. It had 18 miles on it.

I am pleased with the car, however, not with Bonham. I paid $300 for the "certified pre-owned" warranty. The cluster on the dash said "-58" when the car had 18 miles on it, and they did not reset it during the certification. They did not replace my windshield wipers like they were supposed to. When I went to tag the car, they had put the wrong date on the Texas title. They did not put my correct name on the title, and said that the car was mine Sept. 10th. Wrong name, wrong date. I paid a late fee.

On October 20th, at only 2,603 miles, the drivers side rear wheel came off the hub and went bouncing down the road. The car came to a grinding halt. Luckily, no one was hurt, the oncoming traffic was able to steer clear. Bob Howard Chrysler, the dealership that has the car now, investigated and found out that the tire is not the original, and the lugs were cross-threaded and useless. The hub needs to be replaced. They called Bonham's sales manager, Boyd, who verified that the car had a blowout, and had to get a new tire. Then, knowing I would need proof before being able to establish liability, I called and asked for an invoice on the tire. When they couldn't dig it up, they asked why I needed it. Boyd, the sales manager changed his story immediately. He denied replacing the tire after I told him that the wheel fell off the car. Now I'm stuck with the repair cost.

Damn that is scary! I better check my fronts to make sure they are secure, since they obviously changed my front tires. Also I forgot my wipers were/are falling apart as well.

I am not very pleased with Bonham Chrysler either.

I had a GOOD experience with my salesman...but overall, not impressed with the dealership.

PROS:
  • more SRT6's in inventory than anyone else.
  • fairly close to me at around 300 miles.
CONS:
  • Very little product knowledge.
  • Poor finance department - I refinanced my car immediately due to their lack of a good rate.
  • Tried to bend me over on the Chrysler Max-Care extended warranty. (Charged me $2,999, cancelled it and got it for $1,220 from chryslerservicecontracts.com).
  • Did not 'CERTIFY' the vehicle like they said they did, and like I PAID for. When I went to get a quote (1 month later) from chryslerservicecontracts, the gentleman told me my car had NEVER been certified. I called Bonham and it took me 3 weeks to finally get it done and get the paperwork through to Chrysler.
  • Did not change windshield wipers, did not change oil, and probably didn't even look at the car - yet the still charged me for the certification.
  • Received poor customer service when I called to cancel my Service Contract that I paid three times too much for - It took me 2 weeks to get this taken care of, but I finally climbed the corporate ladder and got it done. I assume the finance guy was laughing all the way to the bank when he sold me the warranty for WAY too much - my own fault for not doing research PRIOR to buying it, I suppose.
  • Poor condition of the cars on the lot. Most of them had a few minor door dings, few minor scuffs, some low/flat tires, some dead batteries, all had poor windshield wipers, and some were covered in bird droppings/tree sap.
Overall - they were in it for the money a little more than some dealers I've dealt with. I did have a good experience with my salesman, but the finance was a joke.

I got what was the 'best' remaining graphite car on the lot at the time with no dents and only a minor scuff or two, and some residual shipping tape/plastic. When I bought mine, there was another Graphite coupe that was cosmetically 'perfect', other than a little more salt/corrosion signs under the hood for whatever reason (the bolt heads had surface rust and the aluminum covers were oxidized a bit), and it didn't have NAV, and it had the Michelin tires (I wanted Contis).

If you are traveling anyways, I would contact Tod at Tom Ahl PRIOR to going to Bonham. He seems to be MUCH more knowledgeable and much more honest. He's got a good reputation to keep up, as well.

Hope this didn't shoot down your hopes, but I thought it was better to be honest than have you fly all the way in just to be disappointed.

In the car's defense, ALL of the cars on the lot are easily repairable with some minor elbow grease and at MOST a little bit of paintless dent repair. The dings were all minor parking lot dings from having too many cars, too close. Nothing I saw was excessive. Sometimes you have no choice where you buy from if you are after a certain color. Bonham had like 40 SRT's remaining when I bought mine...so I had a lot to critique.

I guess I also need to verify that my car is "certified".

All right since the Majority of feedback seems to be negative, is there anyone or does anybody know anyone local who can actually look at the car. Jeff Thompson is who I have been dealing with and so far he seems like a decent guy, but I really don't want to take any chances based on the overall reviews of the dealership.

Thanks,
Dave

Bonham is a small country town about 60 miles NE of Dallas. I doubt anyone here will know someone local but maybe you'll get lucky. As I said, my experience was positive but then I knew what I was looking for. The salesman was very courteous but not all that knowledgeable about Crossfires. Do your homework and I think you'll do fine.

When I was there, I was surprised at the large number of xfires for sale. I suggest you let Jeff know you are coming and ask him to clean up the car. They do get a bit dirty as they sit close to farm land.

Good luck!
- Dan

My exp was okay as well but that's b/c I knew what I wanted also. My AB SRT had 48 miles and paid less than 26k. I would not buy from them again b/c I don't need another SRT6...or do I. No one should buy an SRT6 from this dealer with out inspecting it first hand.

I knew what I wanted also - the best car I could get for the money (they were all the same price). I also wanted honesty. I didn't try to haggle them on price...but wanted to make sure I got what they said I would.

Just make damn certain that he knows you will go over the car with a fine tooth comb. I know for a fact that the majority of the cars there were not perfect. NOW, with that said, most of them were 'close enough', meaning they could be easily repaired. You have to keep in mind that you are buying a car at half the sticker price. Also, your version of 'perfect' and my version could be completely different. I worked in a body shop for a few years and I am that guy who will get down on my knees (in the gravel at Bonham) and catch the reflection just right to make sure there are no dents or prior body work.

Oh yea - expect some tape residue on the interior of the drivers door panel. It was on most of them.

Jeff and Sean were who I dealt with. It took me two weeks (over the phone) to get them to say they COULD certify the vehicle. Their excuse was that they don't ever certify them. I finally called their service department direct, and they told me within 10 seconds how much certification costs. And, remember, DO NOT buy the chrysler ESP from them...they will gouge your eyes out. My finance guy was named Tracy and he was absolutely horrible. Secure your own financing if possible.

If you have any trouble with warranty or paperwork, call Jan - she is in their accounting dept. and is by far the best to deal with.

Like mentioned above, the dealer is basically placed in the middle of farm land. There is a lot of wind, a lot of dust, and a lot of gravel - this makes for dirty cars. Make sure yours is rinsed and stored inside prior to the day you arrive. It is easier to find defects when they are clean.

There was also a car, when I went, that had the window down and apparently some rain and dust got inside at some point...

My car had 18 miles when I picked it up. I am 300 miles away in San Antonio, or else I would definitely check it out for you.

If it matters any, there are two roadsters near my house for sale, on graphite and one black, both $25.9 with 10-12K miles.

LantanaTX is up that way towards Dallas. You may ask him if he is heading east at all...he is a stickler just like me and could easily go over a car if he is headed that direction. You could also pay for a 3rd party inspection.
