Default Who has the SL55 Y-Pipe? Any pics?

Do any of you guys have the SL55 Y-Pipe installed?

Any pics of the SL55 Y compared to the stock one?

A friend of mine wants to modify his. I am probably just going to get the Needswings intake...but I'm posting this for him. He wants to keep the factory look with the air boxes and engine cover in tact.

I've seen two different Y Pipes, one metal and one rubber/plastic. I can't tell which one is the SL55 Y that everyone is using.

Thanks,
Shawn

I've been wondering about this as well. I called a Benz dealer, and they were not sure which part I was referring too. Given that I didn't know what it looked like or what is was made of, I couldn't help them figure it out. I would like to use one with the the NeedsWings Intake.

I don't think you can use the SL55 Y pipe w/the NeedsWings intake (if we are talking about the same Y).
Check out http://www.oempartsdirect.com and drill down on a SL55.

Compliments of slk32.com

I think HDDP posted his polished intake pipe.

Brian,

Any idea which car each of those came off of?

I haven't been able to find the source for that metal version, or find out if it is larger than our T-body.

Do you have this done on your car?

I don't think we are talking about the same thing. What I'm talking about is the Y-Pipe that comes out of the Intercooler under the supercharger and feeds the intake manifolds. This isn't the one that feeds fresh air to the Throttle body(part # 12 in the diagram). This Y-Pipe is pressurized after the intercooler. If you look down the back of the engine between the fire wall and engine, you will see it. It has some sort of temp or boost sensor in the valley of the V. Those photes from slk32.com kinda show it. Does anyone know Benz calls it or what the part number is? I've heard through the grape vine that is only about $100 from the dealer.

So is that metal piece pictured the one for the intercooler, and the plastic one is for the throttle body?

I need the 'Y' that goes to the throttle body, from the airboxes...

NeverEnough wouldn't need this as he has the NeedsWings intake (one pipe).

Yeah, we aren't talking about the same thing here. I have always seen the Y-Pipe refered to as teh pipe coming out of the intercooler that feeds the intake manifolds. The metal one in teh picture with the sensor sticking out of it is the one I am talking about and the one that want to use with the NeedsWings Intake.

The one you are talking about IS #12 in the diagram. It is made of plastic. Should be easy to get from a Benz dealer.

#10 looks like what I'm after. Now if I can just verify that it will fit the 3.2L...

If you find out, let us know. I may be game for one too.
BTW, the price for #10 is $45.92 at oempartsdirect.com.

Really? That's it? If I can verify that it fits, I'll order one NOW.
