Default ECU help...

I know the ECU is under the black box with the padlock on the passenger side of the car but there looks to be 2 ECU looking devices clipped in there? Can someone post pics or specify which is the ECU? I plan on sending her out this week to InMotion to tune it.

Thanks...

Here ya go

Are you going to have InMotion solder in a new socket or just flash the chip?

I believe it will be a reflash based on my current mods (intake/pulley).

FYI - Inmotion does not reflash your stock chip

InMotion installs a socket and a new chip (that is flashed), that way if you need a re-tune or ????? you can just send in the chip and not the whole unit. Or if you need to get a smog test (like in CA) or go in for service at the dealer, you can simply replace the "Modded Chip" with your "Stock Chip".

Only issue is if your car is in for warranty work and the dealer notices the socket???

Also - you can have them raise the top speed limiter to 200MPH

After all you have the "Worlds Quickest SRT-6" - never know when you might wanna go a little faster

What reason would they have to plug into the ECU at the dealer?

There both covered under wires...it's better to ask then send the wrong one off to oregon Mr. Moderator. It's a little shocking that the moderator of this forum would put someone down for asking a question about something that he/she may have a question about. Isn't that part of the point of automotive forum?

Probably none - but you never know - I like the idea of a socket and new chip - you may need to send the chip in for tweeking since you dont have a wideband A/F gauge and data logger.

Totally agree!!

BTW - I like your mods - what I was planning to do - but HDDP provided the contact info for the LET pulley on another thread - after I call them with a few questions, I might go big next week. I also plan on a dyno tune - benefit of living in So CA.

I plan on hitting the dyno again once I receive my upgraded ECU. Not sure if you saw my dynotune post but my A/F was good after installing the pulleys. The ECU on these cars can adjust up to 20% is what I have been told.

Just got back from vaction (or should I say visiting Mom) but I had some fun in the Oregon forest on some quads and did some plink'n with the old man's arsenal.

Last thing I did before I left was email you the 411 on the ASP pulley so I missed some "stuff" and still have a little catching up to do.

I'm glad it's all working out for you.

Oh stop being a little B ITCH... Yes you have done the right thing by asking questions... But there are the manuals here online... And it just goes to show that nobody want to do their own research... They just want MOMMY to tell them what to do...

+1 chi town your a great guy and all and have a ton of great posts under your belt, but I typed in ECU removal and came up with two pages of threads. Of all of those threads I know of at least five that talk about the removal and have the pictures. Also it might not be a bad idea to download the manual a good place to get it is do a search or ask MMZtimelord. With that out of the way I am excited for you I should have my ASP pulley in a week or two and that will start the winter upgrades. Let me know how your dyno goes. And best believe Im going to challenge you for the fastest SRT6 before HDDP takes it away from all of us....

On most forums i've been on they pick moderators with alot more maturity than it seems you have. If you have nothing of any value to add to a thread why even post?

And BTW...

Back on topic:

Chi-Town, did you decide to go through with it and have a socket fitted?

When do you plan to send it out?

SQ

Usually a dealer won't check an ECM.The ECM is read throught the OBD II port during state emissions inspection. If no check engine light is on you will be fine. If is was a dealer warranty issue that you brought the car in for like a head gasket, they will able to read stored trouble codes like overboost and if the injector pulse and duration have been altered. If this is a concern get another ECM to Mod and leave one stock. Depending on the dealer you might have problems with the needswings intake because that is noticable just on inspection. It is really more dependent on each dealership, what the problem is and how hard they feel like digging, if they want to get out of warranty work

That picture is so sad I feel bad for laughing im a psych major and I work with kids like this I shouldn't have laughed. Usually when you order an ECU tune they know and understand the dealers possibility of finding it and whipping it out so they usually give you a total of three tunes. That way if something were to happen you just send it back in. Also if someone were to design something like headers and you added it to your car with an exhaust system they will usually re-tune for that as well at a discount price. Look into it I know SI was offering something along this lines. I would check with inmotion.

My dealer has been great, heck I removed my ECU while it was there for warranty work. They know about all my plans for the pulley too. It helps to be really good friend with the owner.
