Hey all.
greeting everyone, my name is Andy.
i'm having somewhat of a dilemma...i currently own a 2007 eclipse GS that i got a month ago. a few weeks ago an SRT6 coupe was placed on autotrader for 21k (right after i passed the grace period for the new car...go figure) and i'm strongly considering trading for it. the only thing stopping me is the fact that i will go upside down A LOT by doing it. i really want this car and the insurance is only $20 bucks more than my eclipse (to my surprise). would it be worth it to trade up??

Let me put it this way...does your Eclipse do 12 second quarter mile times out of the box?
How many Eclipse's do you see on the road a week...now how many SRT-6's?
I'll make it simple...GET THE SRT!

heh...that's true...i would love to have such a unique car, but the cost seems to out-weigh the fame. i figured it out...i will be paying about 28k mabey more (roughly 600$ a month) for it with the negative equity, trade in value, and a 4k down payment.
it's funny when I used to sell cars and people were upside down on equity with their trade-in, a few times unfortunately their car was stolen but on the bright side it got them out of the car altogether.
hmmm....

You get to have MUCH more fun now.....and in a few years down the road.....I guarantee the car will be worth more! Look at it......Low production numbers.....supercharged.....and only made for one year!
This car just screams out for Barrett-Jackson in the future!
Did I mention that the car is fun to drive.......It'll put a huge smile on your face when you embarass a mustang at a redllight!

Going upside down A LOT is not what you should be doing. The SRT6 is an awesome car but that still does not out weigh the irrational decision to go upside down on a car. That's why it's called upside down. It's a financial wreck.
I also, unfortunately
I would say no... if you owned your previous car for only a month and are already looking for something else than this car is not for you...
If you have to ask should I buy this car or can I afford it? than the answer is no...

I agree with Stlouistrucker and sidez on this one. You also need to consider the maintenance costs with this German-built sports car. Oil changes are very expensive for one thing. The car uses 8 quarts of synthetic oil. Dealers charge about 100 bucks for an oil changes. If you do it yourself, the quarts still cost about 6-8 dollars each. So, if this car is going to be a daily driver, expect to eventually have to fork out some serious cash for maintenance and repairs over the course of ownership. Gas milage isn't great either and it uses premium fuel only. Being upside down on a car especially in the current economy, isn't a good idea at all. You obviously liked the Eclipse when you bought it. Just enjoy it and once it is paid off or close to it, you can then look for an SRT6 if you still want one. I'm sure there will still be some out there and probably for cheaper.
