Default Crossfire vs. Mustang GT

Here is a cool video that was posted over on the SRT forum of Rob at Needwings SRT6 racing a Mustang. This is a great 12.4 pass but he says he made a 12.1 pass that night. STRONG!!!

Rob,

You need to work on that reaction time. You gave that mustang some false hope. Nicely done. You like mine with the yellow viper?

Yep that was heads up. I cheated though, I can flat out drive. I have the ASP 178mm pulley and Needswings intake. That day I had a viper of every color. With the right driver those should be in the 11's easy. There was a copper one that gave me the best run, but couldn't catch me. My DR's are priceless on a well prepared track. It was a viper event.

Very nicely done. Looked like he got the jump off the line, but when he
shifted to second he didn't do so well, and you blew past him. Very nice,
indeed.

I scrolled through the rest of the youtube videos with crossfires and found this. Its a video comparing a Crossfire with an Alfa Romero. I can't understand what he is saying, but the last scene is a classic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5wxQ...eature=related

Pretty cool video but it is sort of "Apples -to-Oranges". The Alfa is a 2+2 and the Crossfire is a true two seat sports car. The Crossfire looks a LOT more composed going through the slalom/cones; no suprise there considering lower center of gravity, short wheelbase, wide track and lots of rubber. The Alfa has some nice Italian style. i especially like how the car's tail lights are small and sexy instead of tacky and honkin' big like most newer cars. I hope we see Alfas here in the USA soon. Rumour is they may be built in a current Chrysler factory in New Jersey. Possibly even sold through Dodge/Jeep/Chrysler dealers !

Dodge/Jeep/Alfa/Nissan/Cherry dealers ???

Cheers,

Slim

Watch the vid closely. I tree'd him by .400 1/100's of a sec. It was over at the start.

Honestly can't tell you times. I don't remember the date, but should be on the viper truck site. The vipers were running mid to low 12's all day. I was running consistently mid 12.5's back to back. The copper one was hitting the 11's after a while. Yep, it was pretty much driver advantage disadvantage however you want to look at it. I know I could put one of the vipers deep into the 11's. I don't mark my slips, I guess that would be a good idea. I had no clue this video was around. I believe the event was in Jan or Feb of this year. This bit is info is food for thought. I had raced them before pulley and dr's in december and no matter how far out I was they would catch me. Same with the vid against the cls63. Once I was pullied the midrange improved and it was all about reaction time on heads up.

Very nice.............I just raced a GT convertible last night and destroyed him the same way. He got me for the first 100 feet due to my spinning like crazy and going sideways but once traction was found it was all over for the Mustank.

I've watched the vid closely, several times. Maybe you see it differently,
but from what I've seen the Mustang jumped first. He is moving while
the Crossfire is sitting still. You can see the Mustang's nose come up and
move forward before the Crossfire starts to move. Sorry, but that's what
I see.

Coyote,
Your right, I was talking about another video. The mustang video, I replied giving rob a hard time about letting the mustang think he had a chance by sleeping on the line. Sorry about the confusion.
