Default ASP pulley getting some rust...

I noticed today my ASP pulleys had some rust patches on em...anyone else notice? For the price I would have assumed they would have been stainless steel?

On the center hub?

My stock pulley had a few rust spost on the cast metal hub but not on the outer ring. The outer ring the only piece that ASP replaces.

I was under the impression that they are cast steel w/machined steel sleeve welded on?

I believe this is a fairly common problem I have read a few post over on the MB forum about this happening.

You can clean (bolts) them up and then spray some satin polyurethane to cover it. It does not look like they have been painted and the rust is prevented from then on.

If you have real rust to clean up a little muratic acid a.k.a. concrete cleaner will remove the rust but you need to clean it and wash it afterward to prevent further rusting. Just read the cautions...........
