Default Stoptech on SRT?

I noticed the brake setup on xfirekorea's crossfire, and it looks incredible. I did some looking online and didn't see any indication that the Stoptech kit would work on the SRT... is this accurate? I would think this would be an awesome upgrade to match the seemingly limitless acceleration the recent mods have unleashed from the SRT as of late

Any info on this, guys? Or is the SRT stuck with having to retrofit a SLK kit?

Thanks in advance

Kicker put them on their show vehicle so I would venture to say yes.

IDK how the heck I missed that.... thanks for the link!

Price is about what I expected... not cheap but I'm sure the 60-0 distance will be awesome.

83.560.4600 Crossfire SRT-6 2005-2005 Front 332mm x 32mm $2195
83.560.4700 Crossfire SRT-6 2005-2005 Front 355mm x 32mm $2795
83.560.0043 Crossfire SRT-6 2005-2005 Rear 328mm x 28mm $2295

$5000 for front and rear brakes is rediculous IMO. I wouldnt even spend that on wheels.

As far as stopping from 60-0 the pad and tire compound are more important than large brakes. Size mainly helps with heat dissapation on the track. More rotating mass wont help acceleration either.

They look nice and for $2000 maybe justifiable, but i can find 100 better ways to spend $5000 on my srt6 that already has huge brakes. Just my .02.

I'm betting my 60-0 stop distances with my race pads, calipers and Motul 600 fluid are just about the same, maybe better since I have wider tires. I'd have to do a few and measure to be sure.

The extra rotating mass and unsprung weight would be a bad thing since I track the car occasionally and I don't have it stripped down.

Cheers!

doubt it, there will be no change in your 60-0 distance. the only gain is some added heat resistance with thier kit, hardly worth the extra 60 secs of fade resistance vs. the srt6 brakes.

if you want to stop faster stoptech recomends that you instal sticky tires, and as we all know the base model brakes stop the limited crossfire about a couple feet shorter than the srt6, mostly due to less rotational mass.

Those are good points to bring up... Are you running braided lines MMZ?

The stopping distance on a stock SRT is already impressive... And I agree that $5k for front and rear is retarded. $5K would do a LOT to the engine...

Thanks for the advice...

I would think having custom cooling vents for the front brakes would do wonders to reduce heat induced fading when tracking the car. Run some ducts from the front fascia, make some vents that bolt up to the front suspension/brake backing plates. This would help IMO more than 5k for larger brakes.

When I used to run my truck in SOLO II events with SCCA, I had cooling ducts and they helped TREMENDOUSLY! I took them off during daily use though. It was basically a simply hose attached to the rear of the rotor dust shield, but it fed cool air to the center of the rotor and I could certainly feel the difference.

Does the SRT have ample room to run such ducts?

Not sure about the SRT but Woody has fabricated brake ducts on their n/a crossfire. He removed the housing for the fog lamps and put a hose to direct air to the brake mechanisms.

The Stoptech brakes are going to reduce unsprung weight, not increase it. They use a 2 piece rotor and a lighterweight caliper than what we have stock.

in that case cant you just adapt the stoptec two piec rotor to your srt? have to machine a new hub to mount the lighter rotors?
