Default 2nd Time My Wife Drove MY SRT 6

My wife had only driven My SRT 6 one time until last week and that was just right after I bought it, ALL STOCK. Well last week she called me after I got to work and asked if she could drive it to work, of course I cringed and said okay. I only asked a few things that she should do, back into the parking space (curb) and don't follow anyone very close (front end chips). When she got home that afternoon, she said "MY GOD, HOW DO YOU DRIVE THAT THING" (Sprint Booster + RENNtech Kit = touch the gas pedal and you are off like a rocket)! Then said she basiclly had to use the cruse control the whole time she was driving it smiled and said "I guess I had not driven it since you done all that work to it". She really don't care much for Crossfire's, but I think her 2nd drive in the little beast may have changed her opinion just a little. I just hope it didn't change it enough that she ask's to drive it more often.

I bet If you removed the Sprint Booster she would like driving the car more. I dislike the SB, it's just too twitchy.

Told my wife, when I bought the SRT-6, that should could drive it anytime
she wanted, so long as she didn't leave the garage. In truth, she has
driven it about a half dozen times, but she never asks. I usually tell her
she should take it when she is not carrying the kids with her and I know
that she will be going somewhere she can park far away from danger.

I finally got to drive mine to work yesterday...which is rare. Then, I met my wife for lunch...which is even more rare. She asked if I wanted to trade xfires for the afternoon. I said "No thank you" (with a big smile) . She loves to drive the SRT-6.

Yes that is what she told you, but if you plugged into the ECU I bed it would tell you: top speed for the day was 130 mph, maximum lateral g for the day was .85+ , and if you check the tire tread 1/4 of the life is gone from the ront outside corners, and 1/3 of the tread is gone from the entire surface of the rear tires - with lots of rubber particles stuck up on your wheelwells, and... don't be suprised when you get a few tickets in the mail with a picute of the car running red lights - but the judge will clearly see it was not you, especially if you have a mustache when you go to court.

You are more brave than I am. I would have had the same "to do" list plus many more. I have the fact that I have to have mine inspected this week. I don't want anyone touching it other than me. Sounds ridiculous but I just can't sem to lighten up. I really like the way it instantly responds with the smallest pedal adjustment.

hey, either Steve, not to change subject, actually I did buy my SRT for my wife until I fell in love with it, but now my question...sprint booster...I installed mine last night...wife and I are out today for a drive...I really don't see much of a change...does the car need more hours to adjust? Do I need to run the crap out of it...?? My wife didn't seem to notice difference either...she has a lead foot as well...now, the needswings...she doesn't like the whine, but I love it....just curious...thanks in advance...

Sorry, but I really can't say because I installed my SB at the same time that I done the install of the RENNtech kit.

I'd say she probably got on it a little at slow speeds, she's been stopped for speeding 2 or 3 times in the last couple years. She's slowed her butt down because she done a deferal that don't get put against your liecense witch cost 1/2 again of what the ticket was on them. But if she gets stopped again before 180 day's she would have to pay both ticket's and both would go againt her liecense.

I would reset the throttle linkage. Turn the key on without starting the motor, depress the throttle the whole way down and hold for 5 seconds, release and turn it off. See if that makes a difference. My Sprint Booster made a big difference. The slightest adjustment in throttle and it instantly takes off. I had taken it off for a few days and then put it back on and it is a noticable difference.

Hey Doc, you should notice a significant difference in the way the throttle behaves and notice that the delay between throttle movement and the engine taking off is gone. If you're not seeing that kind of change, you may have a bad SprintBooster. You might even want to try unplugging the SB and flipping the connector over (180 degrees). It can plug in either way (bad design Mercedes!).

The flip _shouldn't_ help. In fact, it should cause you to have no throttle at all. But it's worth a shot. I've heard both results from having the SB flipped - no throttle or no SB.

Hope that helps,
Tom

I never did conquer that damn washer! I gave up and removed the interior trim panel that runs next to the pedal (and your leg). You'll see one plastic screw holding a small vent in place. Turn it 90 degrees (or maybe 180, I can't remember), and the vent will pop out, reavealing a normal screw that can be removed. Then pop the panel out. It takes a little flexing of the panel, but it comes out a lot easier than the washer. Once out, you can just reach around the top of the throttle assembly, and plug/unplug the SB.

Back on topic:

I never let my wife drive my SRT-6. But she doesn't complain, especially since I'm not married. But I sure do dread that first time I'm asked by the girlfriend. Right now we're too early to be driving each other's cars. But she can see it coming. Last time we went out, a bird crapped on my fender while we ate dinner. Before we could leave, I grabbed a bottle of water and a rag out of the trunk and washed it off. She was a little shocked by that. LOL, I'd love to see what she would do after watching Andrew detail one.

no problem

The sprint booster on my na Crossfire was very noticeable.
Put it on plugged the wrong way first and no throttle at all then switched it around and wow it drove like a different car.
No throttle reset or anything.
Just out of the box and on the car and instant power band was there.
I hope you get to feel the difference because you will.

Valk
