Compatible Parts SLK32/SRT-6 CF
Hi,
I was wondering what aftermarket engine modification parts are out there that you guys have experience with on your SRT-6's and what would be compatible with my SLK32AMG (most things). Any input is appreciated...
TIA

Welcome to the forum. if you look around in here you should find most of the stuff we have available.

Except for intakes and HE, everything else seems to be compatible. Look on www.letmotorsports.com , they have alot of parts for our engines.
The toy made this list: The mechanical stuff should work.

Great info tulsa/toy... Shouldnt the CAI's be more or less the same on these two cars? What have you guys found to be the best performing CAI? I'm more or less stock other than a 181mm crank pulley and some phenolic spacers... both from LET. Maybe I should check out your guys classified section. Any modded SRT-6's around Columbus, OH?

You'll also want to keep your eyes peeled for NeedWings to release their intake plenums. They open another bottleneck in the air intake system on our motors. Check with Rob at NeedsWings to verify that they would fit on your car, but I'd bet they would. His preliminary tests show a 35whp gain from the intake plenums. I wouldn't be surprised if the production version squeaks out a couple more whp.
After that, you may want to look into separating your intercooler coolant from your engine coolant. But I don't have any idea if your SLK is cooled the same as out SRT's. There's a few guys here in the forum with some home built systems.
Also, check with InMotion about getting your ECU tuned. After a pulley, it's a good idea to do a custom tune. They say you can get another 20whp from a good tune - I don't know, as I don't have one yet. But you'll at least see better gas mileage.
Also, I make regular trips to Columbus for work. My next is August 5th. If you'd like to meet up and BS over dinner lemme know.

From what I've observed, the SLK32 and SRT Xfires are mechanically virtually identical. What's more interesting is some of the parts seem less expensive on the Xfire. It will be really nice when someone puts together a cross reference of all the interchangeable parts and part numbers. As for mods, I have the Code 3 SC pulley that a number of SRT6 owners are running along with the Code 3 intake mod and a LET Motorsports custum ECU tune. Adding the SC pulley would potentially be too much boost with a 181mm pulley (I am currently running a stock crank pulley), although the Code 3 pulley has reportedly been used successfully with a 178mm pulley and ECU tune and possibly cooler plugs, but also with an upgraded heat exchanger and intercooler pump. The Code 3 intake mod is very simple and is not a cold air intake, but it opens up the plenum and Code 3 claims 13 RWHP increase in conjunction with their pulley boost. I would definitely consider a LET ECU tune among your possible mods and that goes for any car with an E32 motor (i.e., SRT6, SLK32, C32). My butt dyno tells me that the tune doubled the gains from the Code 3 pulley and intake mod...I would say something like 30-40 RWHP. No, I'm not exaggerating; the gain was incredible and the car became an instant animal.
It was mentioned above that the HE isn't interchangeable, but LET represents that their Xfire HE will fit in the '32...I have one coming and we'll see if they're right.
Thanks for posting as an SLK32 owner -- I don't feel quite as lonely out here now... And thanks again to the members of Xfire Forum.
Hello,
I have the LET HE an Johnson CM30 on my SLK32 for a few months now
. It fits with some minor modification on our baby and works very well. Code3 Pulley together with 178mm is much "bigger" than 185mm crank pulley. In my opinion it is too much. A good ECU-tune can be very helpful but keep in mind, that sometimes a tune "feels" 30-40 rwhp and the power gains at the top / under full load aren't that much... Keep up the good work on your car...

The NeedsWings CAI lists for $450. There's a link in my signature to his website. I would wait for a group buy on it though. I saved a ton that way.
It doesn't come installed, but it only took me about 1/2 an hour to do it myself, and I'm no mechanic. It was easy and the instructions were good. If you can change the oil in a car, or change the brake pads, you can definitely do the CAI install.

On the suspension side, I have been checking around for a shock tower brace similar to the SLK55 Black series, but with little success. I am aware that our cars don't have struts and I know there are mixed opinions about the effectiveness of a brace on our chassis, but a brace certainly won't hurt (hit a hard bump under a high turning load and it will make a difference). Wiechers Sport makes one for the non AMG R170 and one for the SLK55, but none for the '32. They are willing to develop one when they get a '32 in their shop. It would probably fit the SRT6 as well, although CAI conflicts may be an issue depending on what car they use for a test subject. Any interest? Are you anywhere near Nienburg by chance?

Just got my NeedsWings CAI installed earlier today.. Thanks Rob!! It was great to meet you too. I love low speed acceleration hearing the swoosh of that intake breathing.. Ofcourse going fast and hearing it is just as fun
.. Thanks again Rob and send me those pics if you don't mind.
I need to purchase a right rear catalytic converter. Please if anyone can help feel free. My E-mail is lmeaddy@ yahoo.com.( What year slk32amg parts are interchangable w/the srt?)
Really old thread revived here, but instead of installing a car why not delete both rear cats, probably cheaper, mine only cost $40, and sounds good imo
