Default SRT-6 down...for a while.

Last night as I was entering a left turn lane, a SUV decided he wanted to be where I was which caused me to swerve out of his way and left my car one to two feet in oncoming traffic. At that point I was struck by the only car on that side of the road. So due to the fact that I went over my lane, I of course am at fault. In hindsight I should have clearly plowed into the SUV and let it be his fault. I suppose I was just reacting to the only danger I could see at that time but it sure isn't fun to be at "fault". On the positive side both the other driver and I were fine.

......and it's all shiny, too !
Is it just the front end & that quarter panel (I see the wheel is toast, too)?

Glad no one was hurt.

It must be graphite SRT accident week. First Gator now you.

If I owned a graphite SRT, I think I would keep it off the street.

Agreed! I was in an accident that had similar damage in my Limited. Should be around $2k for a new bumper, quarter and paint. Might be a little more since the rim is messed up

Thumbs down Re: SRT-6 down...for a while.

It like doing a deer, steer straight and brake, hit the sumbithch. Your insurance will appreciate it and here on the east coast too many hit a tree avoiding a deer or other thing, trees dont move and fewer have insurance. Iam like an old NY cabbie, I wanna get their paint for the court date. Glad you are ok and you can get it fixed up. Woody HIT EM

I hate to see that!!!!!!!! Glad you are OK. Hindsite is not the easiest thing to deal with. Hope you have a good repair shop and get your car back without problems.

I guess it isn't really visible from the pictures, but the suspension or axel on the front left wheel is broken. It has a good deal of negative camber and I do believe it just drags (instead of turning) when moving, so that should add a good amount to the repairs. The driver of the SUV seemed to realize what had happened as he took off tires screeching. I had it towed to a shop recommended by my cousin (who is in the automotive industry) and he usually knows good shops. I have not gotten an estimate yet since the storms we had recently over here insurance adjusters are extra busy. I'm assuming the repairs will be at least 3000 - 4000, but I could be wrong as this is my first real accident. I had been contemplating lowering my deductible for a while but of course I did not and it is still $1000. Oh well, you live you learn. Waldig you are completely right about insurance appreciating it, my agent said I shoulda just hit the SUV. I guess I helped contribute to the rarity of a graphite SRT.
