Srt6 Modifications
Hello forum members, I bought a new, never sold 2005 (of course) SRT6 roadster for 53% of the original sticker price. about a month ago. I am really jazzed. I have some questions for you performance guys. The first question is: How do you guys deal with the big mods if your in warranty? If you tweak the E.C.U, how do you handle smog checks? and finally If I go for the pulley mod is top or bottom better (blower pulley seems a lot easier to install) and do I have to upgrade the I.C. or will the blower cutout save my engine if the charge gets too hot. THANKS JEFF
I'm in the same boat. I decided to only do mod's easily undone for dealer visits. With Chrysler loosing money, you know they are being super strict as far as modifications and warranty service. They even told me straight out, to my face, in full sunlight, that the oil had to be changed by a certified mechanic or any future warranty service on the engine would be denied. And better yet, changed at the dealers service department, to not have possible issues. What *****. But hey, few have the time to get a lawyer and fight them. Ask the service manager how they will treat certain modifications, bad response, don't do them or do them and put the car back to stock before taking the car in for service. Some dealers won't try to deny warranty service, many will.

Tweak the ECU - LET did mine and I can not believe the difference. #1 on the list. I would guess you would have no smog issues.
Pulley - either will work. I chose the LET bottom pully, added bonus you get rid of the cheapo factory balancer (plastic - that is known to have issues) Kill 2 birds...
Doing these two there are no IC upgrades required- there is quite a bid of info coming about the heat exchangers on here. I do not see a big benefit at this point.
Choose an upgraded intake or at least K&Ns (also watch LET they have a nice one in the works) Needswings CAI is a great performer but you loose the factory engine covers.
Exhaust - Magnaflow has a nice setup but the SRT is not a direct bolt on - a "Y" pipe needs to be made.
Have fun - I am sure you will get a lot of responses!
EDIT* Phenolic spacers..Not sure you gain much but let me tell you once you open the intake you will want to add a oil catch.

Also dealers can not void a warranty because of the installation of aftermarket parts. They can void a warranty claim but they have to prove the aftermarket part caused the problem.
As a side note they can make service extremely difficult if they want - most people wont fight them.

That is the biggest thing right there. If they cannot prove it cause the failure then they cannot void the warranty. For example, they cannot deny you warranty work on your peeling headliner just because you have aftermarket wheels and brakes installed....an aftermarket part has to CAUSE the failure of the part have warranty work done.
