Default 181mm Water Pump Pulley Recall

If you have a 181mm pulley kit and have not replaced the water pump pulley, then you need to!!

You WILL be stranded at some point.

Of course, there is no charge.

I personally screwed up in the design of the water pump pulley and the issue is 100% my fault. I feel horrible!

Way to take responsibility. This is just one reason i fully support LET products and customer service.

You never know the real value of a company until you see how they react to problems, then you see who you are dealing with. A+ LET and Jerry

What about the belt-size "debate"....any recommendation from LET about OEM belt or a slightly longer one (gatorback or other)? If so, what length?

Ordered my replacement water pump pulley on 8/13 - still nothing....

Sent a follow-up e-mail asking for the status about 2 weeks after that - nothing.

Hello..........where is LET/Jerry or are they just renting drag strips? Come on........I realize 1) small shop; 2) small group of cars etc.; however you accepted the money, presumably deposited into your bank account - THEN realized that you grossly under-engineered the water pump pulley (at least on the 181mm) and notwithstanding all of that you rented a drag strip for the day. In my mind, the priorities are messed up. Thoughts, responses?

I sent two replies to your dodig.mil email address and I got no response. I personally sent these replies and didn't get a response back.

When you placed your order for the replacement WP pulley, you didn't include the original order number in notes section as REQUIRED. I was trying to find out this info.

The order page clearly says "Please provide original order number / name in the notes section. Orders received without this information will not be processed!"

I never got a phone call either, which could have resolved all this. Why would I bother posting this up and not reply to your emails?

I just generated the UPS tracking number for your replacement pulley. It will go out tomorrow. UPS - 1Z5386VF0394689062

I found Jerry to be top notch as well as Wayne...you really get a feel for people when you meet them in person...you guys have a great little company going and I for one, am glad you are helping us here on the forum and in field with testing and tuning....this old Chevy guy appreciates it and you have a happy customer...I used to have problems from time to time with parts suppliers for my Chevys, and those who stood up and accepted responsibility kept my business....I'd hate to think how much money I have spent on cars, but its my hobby...and my hobby needs support...you guys help with that...good work...

Thanks for the support!

LET is undergoing changes and we will soon be in a better place to support our customers. LET will be based in Chicago instead of Houston. We are working on getting hired help to answer the phones and emails at the new location.

I work full time for the city (IT work) and I own an IT consulting firm that I have been running for over 8 years. I'm also an owner of LET and I would love nothing more than to deal with LET related business all day, but that isn't the case as of now.

I apologize for any issues that any you may have had to date. We ARE working through them, but it takes time to transition a business from one state to another.

Thousands of miles and several 360-350HP pulls on my 185mm LET pulley setup with no issues.

Couldn't be happier.

Never got an e-mail.......I recall the order number thing - but I don't have the order number - and frankly not sure why I should be required to know/find/have it. That's like getting a recall on your car and having to show up with original invoice # from when you bought it.....simply, I don't have it - unless its on this box of pulley's in my office that I can't yet install. Besides, wouldn't it be just as easy, if not easier for you to search your sales database for my name - or how about mailing out new pulleys to all who received the under-designed one - why should we have to order it - anyway - regardless - issue over (presumably I'll receive the pulley in the next few days/week) - just not what I expected. Thanks.

Call the dealership and tell them you have a Crossfire SRT6 that has the smog pump recall and tell them you want to swing by and pick up the parts. I can assure you it won't happen. They will want the car.....are you going to complain to them too?

The fact is, we required a small piece of info, which you failed to provide.

We have received over 50 orders for the replacement WP pulley.

Now, consider that we only sold about 20 181 kits.

I want to be able to track who got the replacement pulley and have a record of the transaction.

Your pulley has shipped and you will receive it shortly.

It is not my intent to play ping-pong response on the forum; however, you missed my point to which you responded “smog pump recall….” – never mind, doesn’t matter.

I don’t have an order number. I just when through the box of pulleys/parts and all I have inside the box is page 1 (of apparently 3) of a UPS label – tracking # 1z5386vf0396511427 (return address Erick……Friendswood, TX) – nothing else in the box, no invoice, no order #, nothing else.

Regardless, why track who gets the replacement pulley, wouldn’t it be better to ship them to all who received the weaker pulley – all 20 of them (instead of shipping 50) and I look forward to the new H2O pump pulley and increased performance.

No, it wouldn't be better. Pulley kits are bought and sold and most of them were sold through dealers, vs. directly off our website. We have no record of who the pulley was sold to, only order numbers.

If there was a better / easier way to do it, we would have done it that way.

Enjoy your pulley.

ya know... they could easily have said hey, the kits are being recalled, take them off of your car, send them in, and when we decide to inspect them for a flaw that we found in some units, we will send the replacement kit, or your original parts back... (but you will be without your undriveable car for the next month and a half while we sort this mess out...) I see them asking simply for proof of the kit order acceptable... Azone, Pboyz etc... no receipt, no warranty exchange in many cases... sounds like most people were happy that they owned up and OFFERED, and tried to get it resolved... rather than on a case by case for the 20 units... that small a recall, many companies would have opted to wait and see...
