I haven't, but to me it would be the ultimate if there was a hood scoop right above it to avoid taking in all the heat from the back of the engine. It is a pretty slick concept getting air from 3 different inlets. And also that SC wine would be heard much better from behind the cockpit! I would actually like to drive in one with this setup.

You could remove the back weatherstrip on the hood then add a few washers on the bolts to raise the rear of the hood (near the window) about 1/4" to get a cowl hood effect and that would help but you would have a slight risk of hydrolock.

Trying to compress water with you engine. Not a good thing.

if you suck water into your intake (happens more than you think on cars with cold air intakes) it causes MAJOR engine damage.

google hydrolock and click images to see some great photos of the carnage.

I have it and enjoy it very much. The s/c sounds great through this intake.

Do you or anyone else think it would give more gains in H.P. than an SL55 setup? And about the S/C sound, is as loud as a NEEDSWINGS intake? I was just wondering. BTW, wish I could have made it up there on the 30th to run with you guy's again, but $$ is kind of tight and to much around home to do.

I think there might be a little more HP, but the S/C sound is very pronounced with this intake. @ell, I would use it even if I was lossing a couple of HP just for the sound.

wait so you are saying you think the code 3 intake has more hp than the SL55? or are you saying the opposite? cause wasnt it proved that the SL55 adds the same amount of power as the needswings intake. but the needswings brings in cooler air.

Not just cooler air, but more of it.

Since the SL55 brings the air from in front of the radiator the same as the NW, I dont know how much cooler it would be. And since they have been dynoed to be within 1hp(25hp vs 26hp I believe) I would call that a nit. I have the SL55 and I am pretty sure my 1/4 mile times are right there with the NW guys that have equivalent pulley and tunes(12.5 @ 113mph). Now, I do not hear the SC whine. I do get a nice engine roar and a lot of 'go really fast'. (at least when I plug my radiator fan in!)

Does anyone with the Code3 intake have a datalogger? I'd love to see IATs of the stock intake vs. the Code3.

i really wish the code 3 intake made the same gains that the needswings and SL55 made. because if it did MAN would it be a sweet deal for the power

I have the Needswings intake on the Car, but a Code 3 in the garage. I was planning on doing a little real world testing of the two at the track as soon as it cools down and the track opens up to the public.

It will be a few weeks but I will keep you posted.

That's what we need - "Real world" testing. Most of us don't often drive on a dyno.

I'm pretty sure I saw them on Ebay. 300 bucks though. Id rather put the money toward the present subject matter. Code 3 pulley and foam-sounds tasty!
