King of the Road!
Hi, I didnt know where to post this as I couldn't find a "General" section.
Now boys... lets have some fun with the new kid on the block.
Chrysler Crossfire, STARTECH.DE Modified (Brabus), 6.1L V8... oh my!
6.1 liters displacement from eight cylinders, 426 hp / 313 kW maximum power output, a peak torque of 621 Nm, 0 - 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds and a top speed of 300 km/h: STARTECH (Brabus-Allee, D-46240 Bottrop, phone + 49 / (0) 2041 / 777 54-0, fax + 49 / (0) 2041 / 777 54-4, Internet www.startech.de ) offers an American muscle car made in Germany in the form of the STARTECH Coupe V8 6.1.
The engine bay of the new coupe turned out to be large enough to accommodate the STARTECH V8 6.1 increased-displacement engine, albeit after some modifications. Power is transferred to the rear axle via an electronically controlled five-speed automatic transmission and a custom-developed locking differential.
The STARTECH V8 6.1 engine delivers 426 hp / 313 kW at 5,400 rpm and produces a gigantic peak torque of 621 Nm at 4,100 rpm.
Top speed: 180mph
0-62 mph: 4.7 seconds
/hug

FWIW, probably not much, if any, faster than the quicker SRT6's around here...
lol, the v8 6.1l wont have any dead spots, and trust me, it will tear the fastest of the srt6's.......acceleration in all gears is so responsive and so much raw power that the v8 just bellows out pure muscle, my friends got the 6.1l hemi srt8 jeep, and my god its fun. and as for pricing, around £50,000
$100,000

Actually that has been around for several years and when I looked into the purchase of one FROM Startech they wanted $180,000. for what would be considered a ready to go floor model. It has the Mercedes Benz V-8 up front, it really isn't much heavier than the V-6 and like all the other V-8 forward mounted engined sports cars of the world they are said to handle very well. A company like Startech isn't like a couple of kids throwing an old V-8 in a vega chassis and calling it good, they are perfectionists. Also I think if they were selling them for one hundred grand we would be seeing alot more of them.
I love my SRT-6 but I would never compare the power from a V-6 with the Power of a V-8, It's called TORQUE Baby TORQUE.

Notice the 4.7 0-60? Thats a bit unimpressive considering many cars go that fast.
But I bet the xfire handles oh so much better

before questioning the validity of these remarks do some reading on the Startech it is far from a standard Crossfire with a big engine dropped in it. It is a very sophisticated automobile. with a great deal of additions that the Crossfire could and many have benefitted from. Also while I would not stake much on it I am pretty sure the 0-60 claim is incorrect, I actually think it is quite a bit quicker than the 4.7 sec remark.
I still can feel the scrapes on my chin from when I first saw under the hood of one. Very Jaw Dropping impressive to say the least. If at a light you were to come up next to an unusually clad Crossfire with a V-8 emblem and very wide rear rubber, grin and use your turn signal.

Ive thought about this swap often.
In my case, the financially smartest thing to do would be to find the cheapest crossfire thats still nice($10000 or less). But this is the easy part. How much will that swap cost? $40000...$50000? By the time its done id have a $50000 crossfire.
I think id be better off buying an SL55 AMG and own a MB with similar power.

this really isn't anything new... its been around for a couple years. everyone says how awesome it is, but no one has the ***** to go do it. maybe thats because if it really does cost 100k you can buy other cars and modify them to blow it away.... not worth it, waster of money, blak blah blah its all been said before. Now if you actually had it that would be different and I would want to see some numbers from it, but alas, you don't. Damn.
