AFFORDABLE SRT-6 exhaust
Illinois DYNO and jfire are currently building a 'more affordable' complete catback exhaust SPECIFICALLY for the SRT-6. the big goal with it is to keep the cabin noise down, but give it that little-bit more aggressive sound outside the car AND pick up extra hp. we are almost through completion and will be doing DYNO runs soon. we want to have no 'raspy' sounds, just a smooth 'exotic' sound.
we would like to know if there is a demand for this exhaust, that way we will know if it's going to cost $400, or upwards of $700. we REALLY would like to keep it in this window.
also, ALUMINUM will be an even more affordable, available option for those who live in states without crappy weather and don't mind.(plus it's lighter) otherwise stainless will be the preference.
please post here so we know who's on board.
thank-you so much.

Id like a muffler that can utilize the stock tips.... and personal preference, I lean towards Magnaflow mufflers.

Hello,
I would be interested as well, the price range sounds reasonable too. I would also prefer to keep the stock tips. Is this exhaust system going to be a bolt on/off? Regarding muffler preference, I think magnaflow would probably work better, maybe even borla. I've never had borla before, but I've owned two vehicles in the past with magnaflow exhaust systems and I've been satisfied with the sound, performance and durability.
thanks,
Frank

so far the borlas 'sound' the coolest. they have the least raspiness.
and to address your other question, we are trying to make this as 'bolt-on' as possible. we would love for you all to NOT have to weld anything, or as little as possible.
please be patient with us, we want this to be a great setup that will be easy to install, and easy on the wallet comparatively.

i hate to tell you guys the bad news. it's highly unlikely we can reduce the cost much if we have to use stock tips. you might have to do that yourselves. and i TOTALLY AGREE, the stock tips are the BEST. my best friend owns the metal and steel fabricating company that is doing the work, so i will try my HARDEST to get us tips similar to our stock ones if possible, but i can't guarantee.
the whole system will be fabricated on the NEWEST laser-guided mandrel bending machine available. it is a REALLY sweet machine.
plus, i'm not getting very many responses. perhaps there's not the market i assumed for this mod? we will need at least a dozen orders to get in our 'target' price range, so please spread the word.
also, we are wondering if there is a demand for 3" piping for those running 185 pullies with higher boost.......

BTW, just so you can be sure, this project is being done by a shop that builds heavy-duty race cars, street cars, EVERYTHING. this is not just some garage project. YEARS of experience. Illinois DYNO is also currently the home of the world's FASTEST volkswagen jetta TDI. (diesel with propane!!)
they have been published many times in various performance magazines and have an impeccable reputation.

please let me know in your replies what diameter you prefer: 2.5" or 3"
I am very interested in a better sound and would consider a new exhast. It needs to pass NJ inspections, be durable, and no cabin drone as I drive this everyday and sometimes for long periods.
My mod money is tied up in the AAR hood at this time but we are having a hard time getting enough people so I might "find" some monies.
