Angry chryslerpartsdirect - Horrible shipping prices on small parts

Beware of shipping on small parts from www.chryslerpartsdirect.com. It is my own fault really. I did not check the shipping page before finalizing my order to make sure they did not have a flat shipping cost for orders up to $xx.xx dollars.
I ordered the buttons to cover the windshield wiper arm nuts, plus 1 spare button, just in case.

This morning I received an email from : webmaster@parts4jeeps.comMy order had shipped. I looked at the total and, WTF!!!! The shipping was a bit over $3 dollars more than the parts themselves!!!!!

It is in the realm of $3-$4 gasoline, not that big of a deal, But....come on now!

Just wanted to let you guys know, if you are going to order somthing small, be sure to check the shipping terms if they do not appear on the final pricing page. I feel like a dumbass now....

Subtotal: $9.24
Shipping: $12.52
Tax: $0.00
------------------------
Total: $21.76

Those ****** charged me over $54 for my cup holder bin, the shipping was a little over $12.50. I will never do business with them again.

They must of figured that since it was Mercedes parts you could afford Mercedes shipping charges!

I made friends with lead mechanic and parts guy at my local Mercedes dealer - they just love my little "SRT" and sell me parts wholesale...

check out the other mopar sites as well, there is one that sells their stuff cheaper than the other sites, not sure which one though ? and yes if you go to the dealer ask them if they can give you a employee discount, I just bought 2 of those caps and it was $4.88 total, from the Dodge dealer and no shipping charges.

When I bought a replacement for mine I installed it and a week later I found it in the drain at the drivers side door when washing my car. At the Tail of the Dragon last spring I found Valkryderguys cap next to the cowl where the wipers are getting ready to fall down the water drain. I believe this where alot of these caps dissapear down these drain holes.

I wonder if a drop of silicone would secure them from falling off?

I planned to put just a dab of silicone on them to keep them from flying off. It is a good idea for sure.

A local dealer is definitely the best way to go, but unfortunately, mine is some distance away - I live out in the country and can never get to the dealer when the parts dept. is open.

For me it is easier to order things online and have them shipped. At prices like this, it is definitely cheaper to take off some time from work to go pick up my parts, which is just sad!

Cheers guys,
KrzyFast

Instead of silicone you should try some dum-dum I know its a stupid name but its like the sealing stuff in rolls that they use for your winsheild, or the real name is rope caulk black in color put some on the end of the shaft and make sure there is enough to hold the cap down, it say's pliable in all weather but may ooze out in real hot weather, so if you ever have to remove them you can without any trouble or screwing them all up, this is what I am going to use [ and KrzyFast why not call the dealer and order them and see if they will mail them to you free of charge it can't hurt to ask them]
