Default Best street tire

How are the conti's for the quarter mile runs?? mine don't seem to grab for crap on the street. What I'm looking for is the best traction street tire for our cars. I don't really want use a drag radial when I go to ATCO, I want to see best times I can get on street tires. Any suggestions

I was using my Kumho Ecsta SPTs until this past Wednesday. They do okay on a prepped track. I did a 12.5 @ 112mph a couple of months ago. They just prepped the track that night and the tires hooked up pretty good. That was with my 181 pulley, SL55 intake and LET tune.

Not a fan of the contis at all.

I went with Kumho SPT front and rears.
stock 225 size in the front and 275/35 in the rears. $625 shipped from the tire rack for the set of 4, cant beat that with a stick.

Not the best out there, but at that price, you get a good tire for a great price.

That's a decent price for a set - I really like my PS2's for handling and cornering - but not really sure if their the best for straight-line acceleration.

I just put a set of four new PS2's on my ride for $625 (Thanks Costco!!) so we shall see next time around...

Any problem with the 275 clearing, how close to the quarter panel and inside the tub? how much more over hang to chip up the paint on bottom

There is plenty of room. They dont stick out a whole lot, but you may not like it.

Take a look here.

They look real good in the pictures, sometimes it is different in person though.

Nice!!! Do you feel the 275-35-19 is the max size width for clearence and long tire wear for our stock wheels? Wouldn't want to go any taller than stock. Taller seems to really slow down the take-offs. Thanks.... Don

I run Goodyear F1 A/S tires.

Maybe not the best 1/4 mile tires.......but I can dump the clutch at 4000RPM at the strip and only get a couple of feet of wheelspin before they hook-up.

The Conti's.........LOL.....dumping the clutch at 2000RPM and flooring it smoked 'em all the way to redline.

The 275's aren,t too bad, but the speedo will be a little off. You may be going faster than what your speedo actually displays.

295/30/19 Hoosiers fit the rear without issue, they are a real pain in the XXXX to get on the rim! 295's are really close on the inside wall but great for the track, I would stay with 275's for everyday use. I have 285/30/18 on the rear for my street tire, and they fit perfect.

245/30/18 is max for the front!

BlackSRT6, you dont get any rubbing with the 245/30-18 fronts? I thought 235 was the widest we could go.
