Default Ouch. New Challenger Crushed...

brand new black dodge challenger SRT-8 coming up on me VERY quickly... still had the stickers on it...

...back country road...stoplight...38 degrees outside...

...black challenger slowly disappearing in my rearview mirror...

sad to lose what may have been his first race in that car...

very COOL - looking car though!!!

Two of them showed up at the drags about 5 or 6 weeks ago. They were snails... 13.6 and 13.7 in the 1/4. No contest for SRT6. Might be good between a Challenger and a Charger.

I'm sure the answer is on here but thought the answer might differ....

What does a stock SRT-6 run?

Anywhere from a 12.9 to a 13.7 depending on location and driver.

Considering the Hemi MPG, and speed about on track with a 22mpg Mustang GT, its really pointless to buy any type of Hemi muscle car....

And when going up against cars that are on a whole new level, like the srt-6, then yeah it becomes even more pointless.

Uhhh; anybody that wants to track their car and is concerned about gas mileage is a fool. I get 22mpg on the highway in my SRT-8 4450lb(with driver) sedan and 450rwhp(375rwhp when stock) on tap. Also, have you ever seen how slow Mustank GT's are at the track? They are a joke. There were a couple at the dyno day yesterday and one that was near stock(only removed mufflers) put down a heartstopping 281rwhp............pathetic. Even though my Charger is slower than the Crossfire you just don't get the same feeling from a refined blown v6 as you do from a loud seat shaking v8.

I'd rather be fast! Most people know what a Charger is.
Most don't know what the Crossfire is. Especially if it's been de-badged

True, but they are not making SRT's any longer.

They can't trap much higher than 103mph. Mostly run 13.5-13.8.

The Camaro is going to destroy that car. Hell, it already is starting over 10K below the Challenger's MSRP. :-/

what do you guys exspect from a 5000lbs car. it's not a pony car, this was the biggest complaint about the Challenger when tested over seas. everyone loved it but it can't get out of it's own way. and it' ain't no canyon carver.

the Camaro will be a beast in the engine department, but it's ugly than pig shiit.

i could not agree more.In my book nothing replaces the v8.I like my srt6 alot but from a marketing stand point they are probably the biggest flop of all the srt's ever made.Nobody wanted these cars until they were half price. The challenger might not be the dragstrip king but i wouldnt mind having one in my garage.

Waiting for the v10 Challenger - that "concept" vid was pretty impressive.

You must be "waiting" for the day you have the cash and time to build it.

There's no way Chrysler's gonna do it......especially not in today's economy!

You're better off taking a Challenger to Hennessey performance in texas and letting him supercharge one for 'ya.

Yikes...Hennessey? There is a real gamble.
Chrysler is pretty good about gathering parts off the shelf and making concepts reality. Crossfire SRT..Viper..Prowler..Ram SRT...all were made because a lot of the parts were on the shelf....

I'd expect that a car that was that "awaited" to perform better than the Charger/300/JGC/Magnum models that it is based off of.

People are buying it expecting it to be fast ($42K/425hp), then they find out a 4 door Pontiac G8 GT would stomp a mud hole in it.

The Camaro does NOT look as good, but **** the Challenger does NOT look good enough for me to spend $39,000 PLUS Gas Guzzler tax PLUS dealer mark up.

The Camaro will be faster, higher quality, cheaper and better on gas.

Challenger = Fail

What's the gamble? The guy makes some of the most bad-assed cars there is.

11.9@121 in the quarter is nothing to sneeze at.....SRT or not.

John Henessey is one of the biggest crooks/hacks around and it's amazing that he's still in business. Search the web and you'll read all the horror stories. Check on chargerforums and you'll read about the Henessey 600 SRT Charger that took FOREVER to get built and delivered only to blow the motor 175 miles after delivery.............and paying $25,000 for the 650 package. Ask the Viper guys what they think of John and his lies. I will admit that he CAN make damn high powered cars but at what cost???
