Default Chromed SLR

I wonder what the price would be to have my SRT-6 done? Even the windows are chromed. I doubt it would ever be in my budget.

I believe it belongs to some shiek, and it's really silver plated and not chrome.

I've seen an S600 like this, but I think it was jeweled. This looks like it's silver plated. Very....different.

there is one way to have a "chromed" street legal car.

http://www.alsacorp.com/products/mir...irrachrome.htm

I've seen it in person I really does look PRETTY close to chrome. and they have "kits" with clear, reducer, etc, for around 1600 for a gallon. or about 500 for a quart kit... so the question would be could a shop do with two quarts on a small car like this? I believe with the THIN coat of mirrachrome that's needed it COULD be done with 2 quarts, so around 1000 for materials, then however much for labor. luckily its just like any normal paint so your local shop wouldn't be intimidated.

also look at their "multi chrome" and "eclipse" finishes, those'd be pretty interesting to see on a car.

Personally I'm sticking with my alabaster. and If i ever DO repaint, its going to be candy white

*edit - found a better link for prices. http://alsacorp.com/products/kits_2/...nt_kitsNEW.htm*

I'd love to see an Xfire done like that. When I was a kid I told my friends I thought it wuold be cool to have an all chrome car. They thought I was crazy.

I believe that SLR is polished aluminum, not chromed, and yes it is in the mid-East.

That was the Club Car which most were the chromed Boss Hoss. Later some King Kudas, and Heavy Chevys showed up. That was a mail-in club offer. To have an original kit with the box is really kool. I still have my Heavy Chevy.

I think it could also be done in a mylar wrap. They are about 2 grand and come off without damaging the paint if you get tired of wearing sunglasses at night.

So, if it is in fact chromed, how do you chrome plastic bumper covers without melting them?

I want to get mine hard chrome plated - in black of course - just like I'm going to have done to my .45 automatic. No, there will be no pearl handles. Those are for wusses. Hard chrome plating is one of the most durable finishes on the market for firearms. Imagine what it could do for a car.

This is a common mis-conception. This isn't a new idea. There is a "Chrome" M3 in my area that is fairly well known in the tuner world. Also, Remember back the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and the opening ceremony that featured 50 "chromed" Antique Chevy Pickups. The cost involved with disassembling and dipping body parts, then putting it back together again would be completely insane, even for a Oil Baron.

This is actually a "paint" process by Spectra-Chrome http://www.sprayonchrome.com/index2.html

I believe Dupont or 3M also offers a similar process.

The other issue with actual chrome plating is the thickness of the plating. If you dpped car parts in chrome, they tolerance would be off slightly and make it very difficult to put the car back together and make it fit correctly. Also, you can't Chrome plate a Urethane Bumper Cover like 99.99% of all modern cars have. if you touched the bumper with any pressure or a rock hit it at highway speed, it would flex and pop off.

There was also a thread some time ago about a similar product here on the forum.

https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...ht=Fantachrome

Here is the Chrome "Painted" M3...

http://www.anvari.org/cols/BMW_M3_wi...ome_Paint.html

I've seen and sat in this car in person. It looks chrome dipped but it's not. This is also now an option for the Bugatti Veyron as well.
