Default Idler pulley, tensioner and belt...

Interesting note. I was intalling my 115.3" gatorback serpentine belt today and did a comparison of the factory Idler pulley and the factory tensioner pully and they are IDENTICAL. Sam bearing, same assembly.

Also, the 4081153 115.3" serpentine belt is in fact longer than the factory 4081145 114.5" when compared side by side(there was some question so I checked them).

The last week I have been doing some belt studies. the 1145 belt is 2924 MM long. The 1153 is 2953 MM long which is 29 MM longer. That means that the idler will be relaxed and move right about 14.5 MM, about 1/2", not noticable overall. Enjoy, Woody.

Woody, that is what I wanted. Just to relax the tension on the tensioner some so I dont have to pull it to the max left to just slip the belt over it, barely. A 116" or slightly longer might be even better, but we dont want to get any slipping.

Mike,

I know this thread is old but have you had any issues with the 115.3 inch belt? I purchased a belt which when I ordered it, I thought it was the original MB belt but when it arrived, I received a Gates belt. I measured 115 but I could have missed the .3, anyhow, have you experienced any slippage or the tensioner bottoming out?

The 115.3" belt worked fine all the time I had it on(with 181mm crank pulley kit)... I changed it out for a little longer one when I put the NW pulley save kit on....

Thanks, I have the code 3 and stock crank pully so I was a little concerned but I do have a belt wrap set up on that uses up some of the slack.

The OP of this thread has passed, and is no longer with us. He contributed in a grand way, was a great asset here, and will be missed by many. RIP MikeR
