SRT-6 Vs SLK32
SRT-6 Vs SLK32
I thought it would be interesting to find out which of these cars is faster since we share the same engine, similar dimensions and weight. Does anyone have first hand experiance in the differences in these two cars? Notably the peformance side, which is faster, has anyone been lucky enough to come across one in their 6?
Re: SRT-6 Vs SLK32
The SLK32 has 17" wheels, and I believe smaller diameter tires overall compared to ours. It's effective gearing may be lower due to this. (ie quicker off the line if weight is the same, however I see curb weight quoted at 3,220)
I'm willing to bet the performance differences are very slim, almost nonexistent, between the two.
Ours just looks better on the outside (and the slk32 on the inside!)

Re: SRT-6 Vs SLK32
SLK32= hardtop convertable(100x better than ragtops)............but that adds weight and makes it slower, the car also has more plain/bland looks overall outside and the interior is not as nice.
SRT-6= coupe or ragtop(no security what so ever and easily damaged), lighter weight which equals better 1/4 mile times, more distint and unique looks(love it or hate it design), it's also still "just a Chrysler" no matter how many people try to pass it off and/or rebadge it as a Mercedes.

Re: SRT-6 Vs SLK32
I think the SLK suffers what I call the "Mercedes Syndrome" and the Crossfire does not. What is the Mercedes Syndrome? No matter how great your Mercedes is, it always looks like an old car as soon as their new body style comes out. Crossfires will never suffer that affliction. No one will ever say "that's one of the "old" Crossfires."
Performance? Oh, yea. That. I guess I got off topic.

one of my trucking friends has a red one, we drove each others...SRT is a lot faster of course...I liked the hard top, but I prefer my SRT roadster and the rag top...he and his wife were very impressed with the Crossfire, but they liked the hard top over the rag top...grt car though...leather interior

Re: SRT-6 Vs SLK32
When the Crossfire first came out, I believe Motor Trend did a comparison road test of the SLK 320 vs the Crossfire. Of course these were NA cars.
Even though the SLK had 17" wheels, the tires must have been the same diameter as the XF's 19's, because they were both turning the same RPM's at the same speeds.
But the Mercedes had a more narrow tire, so it had less rotating mass to deal with, thus it ran the 1/4 mile, 2 or 3/10's faster than the Crossfire.
Now I would think for this very same reason, these tires would make an AMG equiped SLK slower in the 1/4 than a SRT6, since we all know how important those wide 19's are for a good 60' time.
With the exception of a more comfortable "luxury" ride, the Crossfire soundly trounced the SLK in every other catagory. I just wish I could find the magazine to be more specific.

By your name I can't imagine why you would think that?
I've often wondered this myself. Can you please enlighten me with how you will assure us?
Chrysler Folk-
Didn't the SRT team do some minor tuning to the car??

All those links and graphs you used really explained it well!
Here are the times for slk32 : http://www.dragtimes.com/Mercedes-Be...ag-Racing.html
Here are the times for srt6: http://www.dragtimes.com/Chrysler--C...ag-Racing.html
There is not a big difference between the two so who really cares.

I compared my SLK32 to a SRT-6 on the Autobahn side by side (when it was Stock) in a friendly race. Especially at higher Speeds above 120 MPH my car was faster. Not much, but faster... This corresponds with many European-Auto-Magazines. They tested both cars from 0-200 KM/H and the SLK32 was approx. 2 seconds faster up to 200 KM/H.
SLK32 is 1490 KG, from my source SRT-6 Coupe is 1530KG, SRT-Roadster is 1570KG. SLK32 has 17 Zoll Wheels (Shorter Gearing) . The Air-drag-coefficient of the SLK32 is 0,34 and of the SRT-6 0,37 (from my Source).
But who really cares, i like both cars...
