Im about to get my first service with 1000miles on the clock. I asked if the oil would be changed and the guy said no, just a basic check up to see that the car is running fine. I asked if i could change the oil as i have heard its a good idea on new engines and he replied saying your cars light will tell u when oil needs to be changed and that after breakin it will change to synthetic oil. I just wanted to get opinions if i should change my oil regardless or listen to the mecanic?

 

Changing your oil won't hurt. And these thing come with fully synthetic 0w40 from the factory. 7,000 miles is the norm for daily driver, But many that push theirs hard constantly change it sooner. Some crazy people even change after every race day

 

Change it. It's not just a function of miles, but age too. If this is really the first change, that oil is probably four years old. Oil breaks down, not to mention the contaminents that get into it from the normal combustion process that then just sit in your engine. Cheap insurance.

 

If there is really a chance that it dosent have synthetic oil in it now, get it changed. Your service guy probably just dosent know that the car comes with it. That might bother me a little bit too.........
