Default Engine cover beneficial?

I just got through reading a thread about people discovering an oil leak in their valve covers which is usually found only after removing the engine cover (whether it be for a CAI intake install, etc).

I was thinking of removing my engine cover simply to have a clear view and keep an eye on that area. Will this have any negative affect- in other words does the engine cover serve any operational purpose or is it simply for aesthetics?

It is the air filter housing and air plenum.

I don't know what Max is talking about but in answer to your question it is merely cosmetic.
It has nothing to do with the air intake!

I suppose it would be germaine to ask if it is a N/A or an SRT-6. Right?

If it IS a N/A, the engine cover IS the air filter box AND cosmetic. Right?

The engine cover houses the air filters and the air intake plumbing. 100% without a doubt.

DO NOT take the engine cover off and run the engine unless you have a seperate air cleaner in place. CAI or other method.

Thanks,. I thought I was FOS even more than usual. Apparently as some others think.

But, in Mike's defense, he does drive an SRT. Cosmetic only.

SRT6's the cover is just cosmetic. On the NA it is functional.

I thought this was the SRT6 section????

Hell my car when I bought it didn't even have that cover!

Until I saw photos on this sight I didn't know I was missing something.

Good thing just more stuff to throw in a locker in the garage....

Yes its cosmetic only...I think everything looks cooler without it!

Sorry I thought he was speaking SRT.
I guess I get used to this section being SRT's.
I guess that shows how self centered we can get, doesn't it?
