Default srt-6 loses to a truck

this guy in the trail blazer is a good freind ,,we use to race PT cruisers and now he has the truck and i have a srt-6 this was his fastest run to date, if i am going to get beat i rather it be this way, I ran a 12.8 and let off , as pete wat 2 miles in front of me.

pete posted on the trailblazer forum:
The guy in the srt6 is a good friend of mine who has been racing since AMX 's came out. He was actually a sponsored driver for their vehicles and has owned over 300 of them at different times in his life.. He has run a pb of I believe a 12.4 with that srt6 and he has only put a pulley and tune on it so far, but is in the process of further modding it... He was actually testing out a posi rear end called a "phantom grip" that was installed the day before as a test unit in his unique car by the manufacturers here in FL. Those cars can be pretty quick when modded up a bit.. When he ran me he said by the 1000' ft mark he backed out of it cuz he said why waste the gas!!lol...

I went to the track last night and my 60' went down, as i had a phantom grip installed before i was running 1.89 to 1.90 60' after the phantom grip i was 1.83 =1.84 3 out of 4 runs.,, it rained from 6 to 6:30 pm we just sat in the cars waiting, then they started to dry the track,, at 8:08 i got my first run and the track was still wet and i still matched my 60' form before, but then i noticed i was running 1.84 for my 60" the thing (phantom grip really works. I am working on a group buy for the phantom grip if any of you are interested, here are my time slips from last night,

I can tell you this,my 60" was 1.89 to 1.90 last week (cooler weather) yet after the P.G. i ran 1.83 to 1.84 ,,,the 1.89's was in 51 degree weather, yet last night was 64 degrees,, hre is the time slip with mein the SRT and pete in the Trail Blazer.

What does the trailblazer have? 150 shot NOS and slicks?

Your times seem awfully slow for your mods and weather.

I don’t think so, it appears he running a stock intake. Our AM intakes are good for at least 2 tenths.

True, an intake would wake that thing right up! He probably would pick up 3-4mph as well.....

Yes, that sounds logical, tune, slicks, phantom grip, etc. and no intake. Sounds like a good idea to me.

Run out to autozone and make you a spectre intake for under $200.

Did you notice the 60’ difference between phantom grip and no phantom grip, NOT THAT BIG. IMO, slicks are over rated and not need at this point for most of us. I’m pulling 1.8xx 60’ with no phantom and no slicks. I know how many tenths each mod subtracted from my times (intake, pulley, tune, HE, pump, spacers/gasket), so in theory with amx1397 the intake is worth at least 2 tenths .

I will also agree. Although they may be nice options, the phantom grip and slicks aren't needed for me either at this point.....I had to get new tires (vredsessnata's ultac <-spelling) and im hoping I can launch the same with these tires. Fingers crossed. If not, they are coming right off, getting sold and I'll spend a bit more and go back to the Toyo's.

I have the ultrac's, they are not bad. they do not grip quite as well in the corners but they do great in the rain. let me know what you think about them at the dragstrip, the best i got was a 1.8something with them.

Track times also depend on how well the track is prepped. MIR raceway is one of the best prepped tracks around, the owner is a drag racer and keeps that track really well maintained from what I've been told

Yeah, definately! I also went wider at 275 as opposed to the stock 255's. This may slow me down a lil, but hopefully not.

So your pulling 1.6 60's and running closer to 13's then you are 11's? How is that possible?
