Racing seats?
I'm 6' and whenever I go racing I have to kind of duck down while driving because my helmet hits the roof. I was thinking about getting a racing seat and fixed mounting it to the floor to give me more headroom. My only concern is the factory air bag system. Is the sensor beneath the seat tied to the seat or the seatbelt system and can it be removed/transferred and still function?

Man, I am sure glad you asked that question, just getting ready to remove my seats to install harnesses. Maybe Waldig can chime in, he gave me some info on where to mount seat belt hooks....
I seem to remember Waldig removed his seats and fixed mounted them to the floor/rails dropping the whole setup an inch or two. PM him and see if he'll chime in.
There are no problems with doing this on the driver side.
The passenger side has an airbag sensor and you will need to remove it from the existing seat and place the pressure pad into your new racing seats.
Remember to do this while the battery is disconnected, otherwise you will need a DRB III scanner to perform an airbag test. (And you will have a little yellow light on the dash until this happens.)

Impact sensors are not in the seat as far as I know. There in the structure of the body.
I tried to get racing seats and am 6 ' tall also, but the manufactures could not give me any measurements to work with. Finally gave up and lowered the anchor points and kept the factory with the logo.
Still would love to find a better answer so that I could do the helmet thing this autocross season. Ready to get back at it, YEAH. Woody

I'm on a weight reduction spree and this is not my daily so I was looking at these Kirkey's which weigh only 12lbs and are $200 a pc with brackets and covers. The seats are 17.5" wide so they might just fit in the Crossfire.

Looks like a spray painted cardboard seat.
I got the butt part down about 1.5" The head is connected to the butt (closer on some than others - yuck yuck) so I gained about an inch as I needed to lower the helmet.
Also lowered er is that raised the liner in the helmet about 3/4" as it was like a cone head........that process was interesting too especially when I decided to TRY TO use a propane torch to shrink the foam core. Did I mention that I have fire extinguishers in my garage........
Where is
