Default The Ebay "SRT6"... again

I went and checked it out last week. Car looks good other than the obvious swaps that were done with the Crossfire Limited. (brakes, wheels, seats, bumper, and a missing stereo.) I'm considering picking it up on a trade for my truck + $3k. I know it is missing a few components that make it as luxurious as the SRT's but I figure for 3 grand I will be in a supercharged crossfire.

I started it up and the serpentine belt was making a grinding noise so it is going to a Chrysler dealership for a full inspection before I make my final decision. After that it will cost me $1500 for a new warranty to ensure that nothing goes wrong over the next few years.

One thing that I am strongly considering is getting the brakes back up to par. Does anyone know what the original brakes or something similar would cost? I also want to do something about the seats. Do the SRT seats just have a a different cover on them or are they completely different seats? If its cheaper I would probably just get these seats reupholstered in leather/ suede.

Any information from the experts would be great. Hopefully everything works out and the car comes back cleared by the technicians.

Truck + $3000
warranty - $1700
Speakers - $200
Repaint bumper - $150
interior - $800?
_____________

$6000 estimated to put me in an 05 SRT with 22k on the tach. I think it works out to a pretty sweet deal.

I'd have it checked out top to bottom. The parts were swapped out with a base not a Limited, the seats are completely different. Good luck!

Im pretty sure I read that car had nitrous on it at one time also. You doing work yourself? Your estimates seem low IMO.

I dont know what it needs for a stereo, if you end up paying a shop to install a deck/speakers it will be more than $200

The brakes to swap in with Used AMG stuff im sure that will cost you $300+/with pads if you look and do the work yourself

Respray for $150? That seems quite cheap IMO to have a quality job done, but why respray a non srt-6 bumper?
Then you have to do something about those hidous wheels.

I have seen SRT-6 seats sell on ebay at 600 on up + shipping for the pair.

Wouldnt you be better off finding a coupe for $15-16k and be done with it?

I figure SRT-6 seats $700+
Deck $200 installed
Does it need speakers?
Bumper? Id replace with SRT6, woudlnt mess with that reg bumper. That + paint = $500+
Wheels/tires = $1000+
Brakes Front $300+
Brakes Rears $200+
Reg maint. Oil+ filter = $80+ DIY/200 dealer
12 spark plugs = $30-$80

I see 3k right there easy just to bring it up to "non molested" status and that doesnt include an SRT-6 wing that cost $1200 from the dealer.

All for a car that sounded like it was beat pretty good when an original SRT-6 can be had for almost the same price. No thanks. You may view it as $3k+truck+extras but what can you sell your truck outright for?
What does Truck sale +3k=?
What does Truck sale +3k + 3keasy in "repairs" =? Could you buy yourself a $15-16k crossfire with that?

Anyone know of an account name or anything so that I can find old posts on a forum to do some research? Anything that helps me get info would be appreciated.

I am mostly interested in this car because of whats under the hood. I look at it as a limited shell with the engine of an SRT for the same proce as a used limited.

I would worry about things such as the spoiler and wheels way down the road. I do most of my work on my own so its usually just the cost for parts. I have the bumper done by a mechanic at cost plus a tip. I have a cd player ready to go but I would have to buy speakers.

My bigger concern is what the previous owner may have done as far as modifications. That rumor about the nitrous is something I want to check into because there is an obvious difference between an enthusiast safely running spray, and a jackass blasting a 150shot and frying the internals.

Mike, if that's what you want, go for it. But, I would really low-ball them making a case that it's a car thats missing a bunch of items. Use that to your advantage. They know they have to give it away.

IIR - The car was owned, before being sold/lost/repoed/given-back-to-avoid-a-repo, by forum user MUTT.

(BTW - I have an SRT-6 for sale that is bone stock, only has 10,800 miles on it, and that has never been pillaged of all its gear.)

what kind of truck do you have? I would think that you would have to assume that this car is going to have problems just because it got repo'd and without a doubt the previous owner choose to treat it like crap in the end.

I would say go to them with a quote from a Chrysler dealer to replace all the parts missing on the car plus labor and then deal with them. Just keep in mind the price to replace some of the stuff that's already there

Chrysler Parts Direct - Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep Parts and accessories

have a lokk to see what an engine costs
