Definitely wasn’t me, was that cgocifer defending us? They seemed like a nice group of people on that forum, I’ve seen worse remarks about our cars. I’m not sure if the push rod comment was necessary

The G8 is a nice car but very heavy and seems to be slow at the track whenever I've seen them. I guess a lot of mods will help it along pretty well.

Anyone know what the G8's trap stock in the 1/4?! I have a hard time believing that the SRT6 would loose that race even from a roll! He must have been in D mode and didn't downshift. Lol

For a second I thought it was me, then I realized that a)it was in california and b)it was a got killed not a kill sotry.

I was on my way home from work, in Mexico, last week and had a G8GT come flying by weaving in and out of traffic...so I caught up to him once traffic cleared. Then on a desolate two lane road we both hit it and I definately took him by a car length up to about 140. I wan't impressed seeing as mine is stock.

Stock for stock I know what most performance cars do and know how to stay off other boards 'kill' forums.

My favorite part of that thread:

And that is from a guy who drives a car that is oh-so-attractive. In fact it's so beautiful of a car that it looks just like every other Pontiac. Wow, how does Pontiac do it?

They are nice....seems like the trend lately is family sedans with 400 + hp. Staggering numbers for a "Family Sedan" what are we trying do here... kill the kids and wifey!! 400-450hp oh yeah!!! but add the vehicles weight into the equation then it's something like 300-350hp which is still fast as hellz.

The best stock G8 on dragtimes is 13.3 @ 109 followed by a 13.5 @ 105.

This is the featured race photo for the day though. Much better than a Pontiac.

I took a look at dragtimes. There aren't that many entries for the G8, but they are trapping from 102 up to 112. The 112 has a supercharger. Stock looks like mid to high 13's trapping around 102-104.

EDIT: HA! Tom beat me to it!

My favorite G8 from dragtimes is the poor sap who bought a "Lingenfelter" G8 and still only got a 12.8 @ 112. Seems to me he paid a little much for that 12.8.

I wonder did Lingenfelter ship him a bottle of Lube and a note explaining that they forgot to use it?

Glad whoever made the post was trying to be informative but that truck engine part was kinda insulting. In all fairness, that motor has never seen a truck other than some Frankenstein muscle truck someone put together in his garage but who am I to judge.

One line from his post is kinda funny.

"I really don't know anything about those cars but I do know that if they have the SRT badge on them they will be respectable."

If this is how he identified it as an SRT6, He must have been behind it.

lol Exactly. It's all personal preference of course, but I love the look of our cars (particularly the SRT-6). It's unique but classy, inside and out.

Regardless, it's nice to see the SRT-6 getting recognition/respect across other communities. It's amazing how many people I meet have no idea Crossfires ever had an SRT-6, thinking every Crossfire made was exactly the same. Heck, I've had people tell me my car doesn't look like other Crossfires (thinking it's a base modded up and customized or something) having no idea. Anyone that's ever rode in mine (and even a select few I've let drive it) have fallen in love with it instantly. I love the "wow" factor on our cars.

It must have been a stock SRT-6, with the mods that guy had, I could see him pulling 1.5 cars, which is only .2 seconds faster if they reached a finish line

there was an older gentleman in a g8 earlier today he wouldn't run with me, funny I just stubbed on this thread.would have been great to see what happened

Personally I LOVE THE look of the G8 the blue ones look beautiful. I think it is a very sexy car, the holden/gto was a joke, and i thought wow Pontiac has finally gotten their $hit together. It's a shame pontiac didn't make it through this economic tough time.

As far as the kill goes, I dont know. I wish I had a dollar for every time I spanked a vette, of coarse I'm running a pulley and intake but still... anyone can play the numbers dont matter it was street racing, but they would be wrong. By the sound of the post the SRT was looking for trouble, in other words down shifted into a gear (loud exhaust) so he could have a good launch. (now say how do we know that? because we all have done it when we are looking to run, I assume the guy driving the SRT would have done the same) Now the SRT6 did the count down WITH HIS HORN, which we all know leads to him getting the better jump and reaction time no matter how little it may have been he was anticipating the beep BECAUSE HE WAS CONTROLLING THE HORN. With just those two little variables in the SRT's favor it just doesn't seem likely.

Yes, it was me on there. They weren't being complete idiots and I was just kidding about the truck motor because I knew it would ruffle their feathers a bit. The push rod comment was just a rib too. My previous bike was a Buell. I loved that bike and want another one, but so many times, the push rod, lump, HD dinosaur engine comments just got annoying. That said, push-rod technology is ancient in the world of engines. It is a pretty archaic way to open and close a valve. Just some minor kidding around. My main purpose of the post was to provide them with some information that it seemed they were lacking. For example one poster thought the car had like 310 hp or something. Truth is, many people have no idea what the car is or what it is capable of. They threw a bunch of negative Chrysler comments, yet they drive Pontiacs--Hmmmm, ok.

Of course they got a little riled up, It is their forum. We do the same thing to trolls around here too. Anyway, maybe they learned a little bit about our cars! :-)
