Default New SRT, how many miles is too many?

Hey SRT owners,

I'm a prospective new owner coming from a 350z. I have $21,000 to spend but I'm looking to spend way under that and invest the remainder. I found a SRT for $12,991, but here's the deal, it has 94,000 miles. For many cars that's not alot, but I'm worried that with the car being supercharged it may be less reliable when it gets into the high mileage. The next best option would be the same car, but with 24,000 miles for $17,977. Keep in mind that I only plan on keeping this car for 2-3 years tops.

Option 1
SRT 94k miles - $12,991
2005 Chrysler Crossfire SRT-6, $12,991 - Cars.com

Option 2
SRT 24k miles - $17,977
2005 Chrysler Crossfire SRT-6, $16,977 - Cars.com

EDIT: SORRY POSTED WRONG PRICE IN POLL, Should be $17,977

94k miles is a lot for an 05. Parts are expensive on this car... A reason why the srt-6's dont sell for as much as they should. Id say go for the one with less miles. Price seems decent maybe you can negotiate it down a bit. Good luck

Well at least we know the SRT can last 94k!! :P That is the highest mileage SRT I have seen. I think if you are only gonna keep it 2-3 years, go for the cheaper/higher mileage one (depending on how many miles you plan to put on the car). The car will last! Offer them 9k and see what they say......If you can get it for 10.5k or lower, go for it. It'll be worth it.

Opps! Voted on the poll before noticing that the price was different.
I voted the 24k mile car. I like the price in the poll better and I'm sure you do also. As mentioned the price CAN go down. Offer 16K.
Another nice thing about this car is you can still get a warranty so you are covered if need be. I just had a supercharger replaced under warranty, $6000. That more then makes up for the price difference between to two cars.

NOW BUY ONE!

How are the tires? 800. to 1200 $$$ I would go with low miles. Also do u know the factory in service date could still have factory warranty 3/36, also if 48 months or less from in service date u can buy factory warranty! Have you run a carfax? Also there are some srt6 still out there with 10 mon are more left on factory warranty. Also if u can get someone to pull a vip report from chrysler to see what repairs have been done.

The one with less miles has been certified by Chrysler if that is what you mean. I also found one for $16,991 with 45k miles... But I don't have to get one right away, I have several weeks to wait for a better deal to arise.

Here is the other one:

Have you checked auto trader? The 45,000 mile car shows it has had the oil changed often great, as reported by car fax. Also some type wreck and repair and a fleet car. Do you know what the certified means, a dealer has to pay chrysler i think 5 to 6 $ hundred$$$ to offer that to you. But being under 48000miles an 48 months old u can get the extended warranty for less , i think when it is certified. What area of the country are you in?

I'm actually right down the street from you in Arlington, so I would have to fly out to get any of these cars, not a problem though because I have a free ticket to use before December.

That's a great deal you got! I found another car on Craigslist in Mass.

2005 Chrysler Crossfire SRT-6 GREAT DEAL FAST CAR

28k miles for $15000! I got in contact with the seller and got the VIN; everything checked out clear. Plus it's still under warranty for 6 more months. It has a few dings tho. I'm sure this car will sell fast; he just listed it 2 days ago.

I think after seeing this car I will just wait for the right deal to come up instead of rushing into a decision. Let me know if you guys see any other deals!

=====Welcome, Great to hear you are in the area, when you find your car be sure and join the DFW Xfire group, also try and make the TMS meet the 26th, there will be over 50 xfires there on the Track. Come and join us even if you do not have your xfire.====== And on another note, i flew to Pittsburgh and drove back, when i got my car. I spent about $800.00 to do that, an put 1200.00 miles on car, but it was a blast.

There are a lot of low mileage XFs in garages and some are for sale. Be persistent in your search; ask questions here; be willing to travel and be patient. Soon enough you'll be a proud XF owner!

By the way, Welcome!

I certainly will, thanks! And I'm looking forward to the drive back! I have gotten my last 3 cars off of eBay and driven them back and it was certainly a ton of fun!

I voted for the lower mileage car, too....
BUT, my SRT now has 62K on it & not one stinkin' thing has gone wrong with the engine. Heck, I've still got the original IC pump! This car has been unbelievably reliable & it's my daily driver.

That being said, one of these days I'm gonna have to stick it in the garage & try not to drive it anymore, 'cept on weekends or special occasions.
