Gotta see what that spoiler is going to look like. The current spoiler deployed is, IMO, the one aesthetic design drawback of an otherwise beautiful car.
If it didn't need the spoiler, per the owner's manual, it would be better off without it altogether.

How on earth can DCX not offer a manual transmission with the Crossfire SRT-6?!? That simply does not make any sense! All the press is saying the Crossfire is supposed to be the new flagship car for Chrysler, but then we are only supposedly offered a crippled version with an automatic transmission. I know its based on the AMG SLK 32 which only has an automatic, but am I the only one completely turned off this? Surely Chrysler has a manual trnasmission of its own that could handle the power.
When I first heard that the SRT-6 was coming out next year with 330 hp I thought I had found my dream car. I've been searching for over a year now to replace my MR2 Turbo and I was convinced the SRT-6 was it. I just love the cool design and the power-to-weight ratio can't be beat for the price. I don't know how many hours at work I've wasted reading up all the online reviews, etc.
But if the SRT-6 only comes with a auto trans then this car will be just another old man's touring car (no offense to any old men out there
. Maybe I'll look at the 350Z, maybe I'll wait for the Solstice.
Hoping for a manual trans,
Pierre

Lessee.. The SRT designation is a Dodge trademark, Chrysler owns the Crossfire, and I know for a fact a supercharged (roots belt driven, kinda buick style) Crossfire is on the way.
It's common practice to use an auto in more powerful engine models early on as they are more capable of handling torque and are kinder to the car in general (no clutch dumping to spring the chassis.) With supercharged versions in the Mercedes slk 320 reaching beyond 350 hp, it's a wise move.

I'm not surprised by the auto only SRT6.The crossfire will borrow everything from the SLK for now. Most of the time the high perf. version of a car is offered in manual only....viper...twin turbo stealth...SRT4neon..corvette Z06 and so on

That sucks! I've made the mistake of buying automatic performance cars twice before. I'll never do it again. I had a '69 Dodge Superbee with an auto, and a '93 twin turbo RX7 auto. Although I loved both cars, I regretted buying both of them. Any and every performance car should be hooked up to a manual trans. No offense to you auto lovers, but I'd say that either you're not completely comfortable driving a manual vehicle, or your not true performance car enthusiasts. Just my opinion. I had my heart set on a Crossfire ever since I saw the concept at the Philly international auto show. I was a bit disapointed with the numbers of the crossfire untill I heard they would make the SRT6. It renewed my passion for the car. That is, untill now. Oh well, I'll have to save up a little bit more for my SRT10 RAM! SIX speed manual and 500 HP. Not to mention the fact that the valve covers say VIPER! Mopar rules!

Last year I was really jazzed about the crossfire and planned to get one. But after a test drive the lack of performance changed my mind. It was tough decision because I've really not liked the styling of any car this much in many years. The crossfire is sweet!
Again I was back in the hunt when I heard of the impending release of the SRT-6 and the plan was to order one as soon as they were available. Hmmmph, I just checked in to the forum to see how things were developing for the SRT... I like others who've posted here am quite dissapointed in the lack of a manual trans version, I've been watching for a hot new sports/performance car (under 50k) to buy for the last few years and I'm ready to buy. I was ready to buy the SRT-6 but, I will not buy the auto.
Chrysler had the formula for this car in hand but failed to put it together to hit the portion of the market that wants it.
The new GTO... big yawn! The new Mustang... what's with that trunk? I don't want a truck. Looks like the C6 is it if I want a performance car. (That is of course, if I can push my buget)

P.S. I would imagine that if the C6 Z06 is priced dramatically lower than the current viper, DC execs. will lower the viper price as well. The viper will probably have a slight advantage in performance numbers, but DC will want to make sure the Viper outsells (if they produce enough) the Z06.

Don't think DC has ever worried about the Viper outselling the Vette. They're not produced in nearly the same numbers, and aren't in the same price range at all.
I do think the new Vette's styling is a quantum leap improvement over the hideous C5.
About bang for the buck..depends on how you define bang...an argument can be made for the Lotus Elise as a contender for that title. Saw a video w/a camera mounted inside an Elise on a road course, chasing a C6 Vette. Vette pulled away on the straights, but the Elise reeled it in under braking (the Lotus has far better braking qualities), and of course through the turns the Lotus had the advantage.
Net was that the cars were lapping the same.
Crossfire too, in it's own way, has a high Bang/Buck quotient now that it can be had relatively easily for a hair under $30K. A Mercedes with drop dead styling for under $30K??? That's BANG.

I realized while I was writing my response that the Viper is produced in a limited quantity. I still do believe that the C6 looks nearly the same as the drab C5 and that the Viper is still much more fun to drive.
I still contend that the SRT10 will handle, quite nicely, the C6..... As I said before.... Time will tell.
I've owned 2 Vettes and they are very nice cars, but, over priced and over rated ( where power is concerned). Unless you go Callaway or something like that.
