Default My DR setup (SLK32)

I know I have an SLK and not a XF, but just thought I'd show my setup here as the SLK forum is more concerned over peeling interiors... lol

Based on several folks here, I gambled that 16" rims would fit...

Voxx MG3 16x7 ET38
Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials 255/50-16
23mm cone-seat lugs

Wow Alan.... Amazing at how close those are to your stock wheels. Looks good.

I would have rathered 16x7.5 or x8 but no big deal as the DR fits 7-9" wide rims... less weight this way I guess.

Bob - That was one of the reasons I went this route... plus they were pretty damn cheap! $109/ea at discounttiredirect. Ordered Sunday eve and they arrived today!

32krazy! - You are right on... I WISH the OEM rims had the polished lip like these...

Any idea on the total weight of those including tires??
I'm looking for an inexpensive drag radial setup, but also don't want something heavier than stock.

TIA!

Tires arrived Saturday, however I am out of town on vacation... Will mount & weigh them Dec 2nd. I'm pretty sure they will come in at or slightly below stock.

Hey Alan, hope you are enjoying your vacation.

Gramma_Benz, when Alan says that he thinks that they will come at or slightly below stock, you need to consider that he has an SLK32. The SLK32 comes stock with 17" wheels on all 4 corners, and they are 5 spoke wheels. I do not know what the weight difference is between the SLK wheels and the stock XFire wheels, but I would imagine that it is considerably less than ours. Especially the SRT wheels.

Hey Bmorgan,

Thanks for the info. But I actually have the same wheels as I have a C32, hence the name.

Final results... LOVE them!!! They are crazy sticky...

Note: with this set-up, I needed the 23mm bolts (I ordered 27mm and had to cut them) Lug Nuts Wheel Adapters Spacers Lug Bolts

Absolutely NO rubbing and the tires are tucked inside the fender just like OEM.
However, they are taller than stock (equals taller gearing) and they weighed in 3lbs heavier (49lbs).

(I still can't upload pics... It says "This is not a valid image file.) Annoying...

Voxx rims and Mickeys have served me well....on my third set of tires in two summers.
Oh and I was never to a "track" this year.

Its a good combo not the excellent choice but a good consistent combo.

If I could find someone to buy my setup I would go with the 16" steel mb rims in back and steel mb spare tire rims up front.

That would be rockin...fer sure ya could lift some skinnies up front offda ground fer sumdem photoshooots...

Sorry...corns kickin in....damn I love mason jars!!

Spare tire rims fit on the front of the SRT-6? They don't on the SLK32, that's why we don't have spare tires. That's interesting...

steel wheels are very heavy. the 14" steel wheels on my elantra weigh more than my 16" cheapo voxx wheel/drag radial.

the 16" steel wheels off my old hhr felt like they weighed about 30lbs, the 16" voxx wheels I have weigh around 17.5lbs.
