request from the c3 crowd
hello everyone. i have spoken with rob from needswings about putting together a pulleysaver kit for those of us that run the c3 with a stock crank pulley.
the 178 kit will work for us but the belt is the wrong length. at one point he was looking for a proper belt but i havent heard any news since.
i was hoping if everyone who would be interested in this kit would post here or maybe email rob and show your interest then we could get a kit made for us.
the cost for the kit is small compared to what happens when the oem pulleys fail and bounce around the front of the engine bay!!

from what i understand the design of the pulley saver incorperated a belt wrap and changed the failing pulleys with better larger pulleys.
and i have never seen anything halfway designed from needswings!

I would be interested in some proper pulleys. I moved the OEM down to the spot above the alt. and have had no slipping issues. The pulley is starting to whine a bit and not sure how much longer it will last. If there are better pulley/bearing solutions out there then light the way.
goodgenes,
you should get that whiner out of there asap... you should also do some kind of a brace from that pulley to the water pump pulley to support it better for lateral forces. Doing something like the NW pulley kit brace would be even better.

well, I have not done anything yet...was getting ready to make a brace running from the pulley mounted by the alternator, to the water pump pulley...for bracing...but, then it was mentioned the turned down pulley might come apart...so...to belt rap or not to belt rap is the question....I am keeping the code 3...and need a better rap...for sure...so if Rob can come up with a pulley, bracing for the tighed1 belt rap idea....I'm in...seems like a simple fix with the right pulley...and bracing...
Maybe I'm missing something here. Why would C3 folks need a pulley saver kit? We are not overdriving the other pulleys like those with upgraded crank pulleys. The pulley saver kits change out the accessory pulleys to larger ones to bring their rotation back down to an OEM rpm. Now the belt wrap I think is needed, but can't believe I paid $200 for the C3 setup...
