HELP! Intercooler Pump
My wife just took the car to the local shop. I bought the Johnson from the photos in my last thread "Common Problem". He said I ordered the wrong pump? He said that there are 2 pumps? He also said the one that is on there is twice the size of the one that I bought? So he is just going to put it back together the way it was and probably charge me some labor charges. Which pump is it?

I take it you mechanic only knows direct replacement and not able to think on his feet, and mod this one to fit....there is a "how to" on here somewhere if pictures will help him.....
Thanks. I do want this one, he just didn't know how to hook it up. He was arguing with my wife and telling her that I didn't now what I was doing and to stay off the internet. I can probably do it. Is it just that easy? Just hook up the two hoses, install some hose clamps, wire it up and mount it? can it mount in the same spot as the old one? Thanks again

Search this thread: LET HE and Johnson pump install
Moparrbust did his....
well, looks wiring is simple enough, and the only other problem he had was the diameter of the fittings on the johnson were just a little smaller, so he had to use screw type hose clamps to get them tight enough not to leak...his was done in ten minutes with hand tools....your mechanic wouldn't be my mechanic very long....lol

Thanks OleDoc. We are going for a drive up to Mount Magazine so doesn't look like its goint to get done today. If I can find enough info during the week I may give it a shot next weekend. I just wanted to make sure I got the right one. Looks like I did. Im just pissed cause it couldve been done before or our trip this afternoon and it would have been really fun. Oh well...

wrap the cm30 in a bicycle inner tube then slide it into the oem rubber sleeve. mount the pump. remove the oem electrical fitting from the pump and solder the wires to the 2 wires from the cm30. use heat shrink to seal the connections. use worm clamps and install the hoses. run the car and enjoy the new pump. total time 45 minutes to do and 1 minute to fire the so called mechanic!
I just installed the Johnson last weekend, yes it does fit ! although it needs a little work to do it.
I removed the connector from the old pump, and soldered it to the Johnson wires, it's marked + and _ (as per 32krazy, thanks for the tip), removed the pump bracket completely, drilled a new hole and mounted the pump with the supplied Johnson bracket. Use worm drive clamps on the inlet and outlet, and you're done.
