Default SRT vs. AC Cobra rep.

I was stopped, he was still rolling a little when the light changed. Went to about 80. He was pulling me but I thought I would get slapped way worse. He had 428 badges on it. Super nice car, great sound to it.

Just be glad you did not pull up next to this one:

It was my birthday this weekend and a friend of mine let me drive a few of his toys. This is a Superformance rep that he built, had a 427 hand built V8 in it making over 600HP. Also got the drive his RX-7 with a C5 Modded V8 in it, very fun weekend

Thanks Mike, and after seeing it in person, the scoop on your ride is second to none....

Edit: And Max, the one above is plenty functional for me LOL

Actually Max I paid $80.00 for the parts to make it functional, but then I decided not to use them. I absentmindedly left the parts at the shop when I picked up my hood. But when I remembered where I left em (a couple months later) (senior moment) they had already thrown them away.
If I had the SRT's SC "pressure cooker" under my hood, I wouldn't have hesitated installing it, but with the NA, I figured it really wasn't that important.

Thanks for the "kudo's" John.

Did someone say "Cobra"? Here's my brothers, hand built in his garage. It weighs around 2000 lbs. so it doesn't need 600 horses.

No roll bar, titled, licensed and legal. The red Cobra only has a bar for the driver....

velocia - what kit did your brother use? I'm seriously looking at a Factory5 kit. That's my dream car, wanted one since they first came out back in the mid 60's.
There are more plentiful than Crossfires at our weekly cruise in but I still want one. The Super Performance version is incredible but way expensive.

Pat, this is the kit that the car above was built from. My friend and his father are both surgeons and they are absolute car nuts. They built the car and had the motor built professionally.

I like the factory five kit as well, but after you add in the subtle touches that make it nice, you are in the superformance cost territory IMO.

I don't know . The Factory5 kit is 19k. You need a rear, wheels, tires, paint tranny and engine. I priced out a 302 version (302 crate motor from Speedway) and the entire car could be done for just over 30k. The guy I spoke to with the Super Performance told me he paid around 75k for his, but it was put together. I'd build mine. We have a nice garage and all the tools. I haven't decided on the engine at this point, I'd like to go big but that will depend on where I'm at when I do this. Factory 5 sets up the frame to accept whatever motor you want to use.
By the way Boiler - that 's a really nice Cobra, I like it without the stripes. Bet it shakes the ground!

They truly are a work of art, and the holy grail of American Muscle for many a baby boomer. As soon as my ship comes in..........!! I'm paddling in the dinghy right now.

I'll have to ask him which kit it is. He has the drivetrain from a 93 Mustang with a few improvements. Twisted wedge heads, trick flow intake and cam, I really don't know all the details however. His car has 300 hp to the wheels and it's a blast to drive in it. (I'm the passenger) I'll ask how much he has invested in it to date. I know he did all the work himself with his son, except the paint.

Sounds like the Factory5 base kit. That's a cheaper kit, 13k and you use parts from a donor Mustang.
Let me know as I am trying to gather as much info as I can.

Pat,

They assembled the car themselves as well, which saves a lot of money, that $75K estimate is awfully high, but it is assembled. I know for a fact that they have over $20K in the motor alone, so cost was not an issue, safety and performance was LOL

Here's what my brother sent me.

It's a Classic Roadsters. I think they went out of business, but someone bought all the molds and stuff and you can get parts. Not sure if they have or are going to start selling the kits again.

(I just googled them and surprise surprise, they still exist so take a look)

For quite a few years I have been kicking the idea of building either a Factory 5 Cobra or their mid engined V-8 monster Super Car. Price kinda limits me to the Cobra. Though I am keeping my eyes open for a thrashed Z-O6 for the supercar.
After extensive research there is very little doubt in my mind that the "Factory 5" is the best kit out there though Superformance builds a heck of a car themselves.
