Next time you decide to go down to Homestead let us know. I am sure that AMX and my daughter would take a cruise there. We have been to Countyline and Palm Beach International. AMX Jim is the SRT drag king (no not Queen)
down here. My daughter loves to race.

Where do you live?

Randy

I hate to sound stupid but these can't be 1/4 mile times!?!
And while some may know not all of us are aware of what it was in which you did this feat.
Please. Enlighten.

I know but a certain courtesy was needed. I'm sure his fan club was aware.
Still don't know what he was drivin' but if it was an SRT he needs to have it worked on a bit.

I'm just a cranky ol' @sshole.

Ok so the best i did tonight was 8.6... This seems ok but im having two issues... Why does the car short shift sometimes? On the 8.7 runs it shifted at 5800. From first to second. On the 8.6 it shifted 6k. I have it on D. Maybe because of my traction issue the ecu short shifts??? My best 60 was 2.2. Which sucks but i only ran the car 5 times. 8.6 puts me at about 13.4 in the 1/4. Considering its almost 90 out and my crappy 2.2 60' it wasnt too bad. I really wanted that 8.5. Im getting drag radials and some 30 degree cooler weather ( which we do have now and then during winter) 8.3 should be no problem. I need more seat time too. Ill make sure to let you south florida guys know next time i go. I live 3 min away from the track!!!!

The transmission will upshift early if your getting too much wheel spin, even with traction control turned off. You can see the traction control light flashing before it happens.

If your only 3 mins away from the track, make sure you only have 1/4 of a tank of gas, or less...
The DR's should solve the traction issue.....and make sure you have it set for S mode(not W), in 1st gear and TC off.......

Yeah don't feel too bad about it, I finally got my 8.47 tonight in the 1/8th...against a Vette no less, but only after a NW Dual and a 178 pulley... Then again it's generally 80% humidity at ~80 degrees here in the Midwest. Hopefully an engine tune will help out with the air density.

hate to be a drag race downer but if you are going the drag radial drag strip race direction i highly suggest you read this thread!!
i never had any issues until i went to dr's and inc. the rwhp to 350. then snap!!
https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...2-srt-6-a.html
this is the result of racing. not terminal but be aware beating on our cars break things! luckily you have a small army of racers in your area who can help you get into the 11's.
oh btw if you want some super stickey lightweight dr's the goodyear eagle ss dr's in 255/50-16 mounted on m/b clk 16" rims are amazing! total weight is 39 lbs each!!

Yea, been keeping my eye on stuff like this. I'm just looking to get into mid 12's or low 8's in the 1/8 mile. I doubt i will be going every other weekend. I'll probably track the car once a month. Maybe less. Once i see i cant improve once i get pulley and tune i'll probably stop. unless of course there are more worthwhile mods out there... The open downpipes from Needswings are BAD ***. but too much $$$ as of now. I do feel guilty running the car hard so that should stop me from over doing it. I hope! how many trips and hard launches down the track does it take for the dif to fail??? its seems like just recently that all this stuff has been coming up.

to get to low 12's you must mod, and to get even faster, you have to hook up...to hook up, you must put more force to the wheels...it's just a matter of time...it's only showing up, because those who pursue the 11's are just getting closer...if you are going to be a serious contender, you will need this mod...if you are going to just spin the rear wheels, you need this mod....can't go fast if the parts are laying on the track...in fact, given the realization of the problem, this mod would be my first had I known what I now know.

I know I'm a drag race virgin, but I wanted to try my SRT on the track at StLouis at CAA, just to see what it and I could do, but it was too hot for them. Strip wouldn't allow it. Be that as it may, I was told to put the autostik in 1st gear and let it stay there. Was told it would automatically shift thru the gears at redline. I read in your previous post that you turned off the traction control and ran in D. Is either way OK? Just askin ....

the timesyou are running are just fine,, Randy and I ran 8.4 to 8.6 at countyline when we were both almost stock, as you get use to dragracing your time will go down my 1/8 is 7.9 and my 1/4 is 12.2 so you can see where you are. not long till you will go faster than me. as for the rear .,i would say you are good as randy and i oh and his daughter all three of us must have ran 100 times before anyone had trouble with the rear end.and a few hundredafter we heard the diff were a problem . don't forget there are only 4 or 5 out of 2000 or so of the srt6's that did have diff. trouble,, my first diff was changed because of howling, ,, the second one was replaced because the yoke was over torqued (bound up the diff) now the one i have now is fine justed counted the trips down the strip sence i put this rear into the car. 67 times down the strip and well over 100 hard starts (wot) on the street, so in my opinion you are safe. so go have fun,, I am having cadaract surgury monday so in late Sept , i will be going to moroso or maybe homestead.

Jim....you old dog, you know how to launch, so don't make it sound too easy...last time down Muncie's track, I heard a nice pop from the rear end, and it made me think a little bit before launching that hard again...first time for the drag radials...so, I am back to street tires for now...they are a little more forgiving....do as you like, but I am beefing mine up before the track next year.....the roadster has a least a 100 hard launches under her belt...so it hasn't happened yet....

Sorry your offended pal.

But,
I read every post on this thread and,

I still don't know WTF you are driving.
The pulley talk suggest SRT but I made a simple request.
I'm sure I could spend time reading your other post and checking your gallery but 1/8 Mile vr 1/4 could only be assumed if I knew what you were sittin' on.

Last summer I saw cars and drag bikes doing the 1/4 in those times. I really would have liked to comment on your performance but had no idea in what context it was you were saying it.
