Default New (different) SRT6 roadster wing?

Anyone have a good idea of one ... or know something that would look nice? It could be something from another car, or maybe some aftermarket piece.

I actually really like the SRT6 Roadster wing, but the post cracks are well documented, and I don't feel like buying a new one just to have it crack again , as has happened to others.

I guess I have been lucky with mine...I don't see the cracks everyone else has mentioned...not sure why yet, but that is a good thing....the wing on ours is very well made, and I believe the weight of it might be the reason for the cracking...and this is the reason I like it...it's not a cheaply made wing...after market wings are ricer wings....cheap fiberglass....now if some could duplicate it in carbon fiber...it might look nice...I would just fix the cracks on move on if it were me, and that may very happen in the future...

You may want to look at the wing on the mb 63 AMG black series. If you could find a way to make that work it would be awsome. It is a smaller wing that fits close to the deck and then extends at speed. Way cool. But at $299k base price the whole car is way cool.

I sat in one at US41 Dragway a few years back...hell, I couldn't afford the wheels on the car, let alone the wing...lol...

what do u guys mean by "the wing cracks" ??? Where does it crack and how many people have said theirs cracked? The stock wing seems very strong & sturdy.

The cracks come from slamming the rear hatch instead of closing it carefully.

That is not correct. As I have stated in previous posts on this topic, mine have cracked, and I have never slammed the trunk lid. I never even use my trunk as it is my weekend driver that I do not use for shopping etc. I treat my car extremely well, and anyone that knows me, knows how meticulous I am with her. There is no definitive answer to this, but my best guess is that it is the downforce at high speeds that is causing the stress at that point. The cracks are happening right where the uprights meet the wing. I know others that have had the same thing happen to theirs, and they have stated that they have never slammed the trunk lid.

The Roadsters are the only ones having this problem. The coupes do not have this issue. If you look at the difference between the roadster and coupe wings, the roadster uprights are angled quite a bit more than the coupe. Combine the angle of the upright, and high speeds, and there will be a lot of stress at that point. I have had mine in excess of 150 MPH so that is why I believe it is the problem.

And, I don't want to be testy here, but to state that it is caused by slamming the lid, is implying that the people that have this issue do not treat their car properly which is most definitely not the case.

What's the difference weather it cracked by slamming the trunk lid or by going faster than 150 MPH? Both sound like it's not the best care for the car.
These are production vehicles, not race cars. If you want to race it, you'll find things will break, just like on any race car.

People who race have the extra money to repair their vehicles, hence I don't race. =)

really.....not sure why it is happening...I don't slam the trunk shut, and you would never catch me doing 160......but, so far, no cracks...maybe wise cracks, but no cracks....lol

Since we're talking about wings. Words of wisdom. Remove the wing & coat the underside where the bolts are infused into the wing, it's bare metal & it rusts under there! I've coated both my wings with por 15 & they were starting to rust under there.

Also I have no wing cracks or issues. But then again my one car has 1500 miles & the other has 7000.

I race mine religiously and nothing has broken or cracked.

Doing 90mph in a Model T is not in the best interest of the car. But when a car such as ours is engineered to go speeds far in excess of 150, 150 is merely letting it stretch its legs.

In fact, at that speed you have a considerable amount of pedal left. Implying the engineers know the car is capable of more.

Don't be scared to play, she enjoys it.
