Default Finally Paid For With Under 5K miles !!!

I went to the bank today & paid off the SRT-6 before she hit 5,000 miles . Bought new October 2006 - Paid off October 2010, glad as hell that payment is gone. I've been making 3 vehicle payments for about 2 years, 4 years on the SRT-6, 4 years on my 2007 GMC 4X4 and 2 years on my daily driver econo box (2009 Aveo -5).

I could never ever ever bring myself to drive a Aveo over my SRT. No way, not once, not ever.

Does this mean you are going to start driving it more now that it is paid off? 4 years of payment for a sexy garage ornament just does not seem right. Maybe you need to do a cross country road trip to celebrate !

Nice collection of wheels you got in your garage Steve....

Did you part with the Limited XF?

I too own all my wheels outright - I hate payments; makes me feel like I have to be a slave to my job instead of just enjoying it...

It's always a great day when that happens; like a couple of bricks finally falling off your shoulders. A question though; how and where did you do 186m.p.h.???? Didn't believe this is possible.

Yeah, we parted the hard way. It was the one that I got run off the road with by an elderly couple & nailed a telephone pole (TOTALED).

Actually I'm working on buying Jeff Cobb's SRT-6 to use as a daily driver & try to sell the Aveo 5. The Aveo 5 isn't that bad looking with the wheels & meat I put on it, I get compliments on it all the time. I just added onto my garage to park my sexy garage ornament in, the new addition looks like a house inside, I'm just about done with the drywall and getting ready to install a PTAC unit so it won't get cold or hot .

I have a 2004 Softail Deuce I bought in 03 as another sexy garage ornament with onlt 5,700 miles on it, it sits beside the blue sexy garage ornament. And behind the blue one sits a 2001 4100 John Deere I bought new with a bucket (about $16,000 in it) and it only has 174 hours. Thing is they all look like brand new , I like it that way.

I just finished paying mine off a few months ago. I know what it feels like! But I have 56K miles. It was a daily driver for 4 years but now a garage ornament. I now put to many miles on a car each day so I have a daily driver that takes a beating.

I just wanted to hear the story. Sorry if it sounded like I was questioning that you actually did it. I will try to search and see if I can find it; no offense was intended. Just wanted to know how you were able to do that. Because, let's face it, that is wicked freaking fast!!

The Aveo isn't that bad of a little car, loaded up, an unbelivable amount of room and the best thing about it is it cost me around $18 to $20 in gas a week to drive. I don't think it looks that bad.

I've been playing used car salesman to support my daughter & 2 grand kids. I've bought, fixed, cleaned up & sold 25 vehicles since a year ago this past July. Made about $5 an hour on them .

The run was on a 2&1/2 mile stretch on a road called the goose pond, when you are coming down off a hill to it you can see all the way to the BIG curve at the end of the stretch. I have a RENNtech kit (pulley & ECU) so I have no limiter with 285/35/19's on the rear.

Steve, congratulations, and welcome to the non-bank owned club! I paid
mine off in March of this year (bought 10/04/04) and it was a rather nice
feeling that I, and no one else owned this car. And, the extra cash in the
back pocket has been equally nice.

I must say though, that in the 6 years I've been driving this car, I've put
some serious miles on it. I'm now at about 95,000 miles. But, still pulls
like a buffalo. Thus the name I've been my crossy... Tatanka!

If you wonder where that comes from, just stick your windshield wipers up,
like you are going to wash the windshield, step back and take a profile look.
Darn'd if that don't look like a buffalo (or a Spanish fighting bull). And,
with the "Devil Horns" (which to me look more like buffalo horns. as they
curve inward and not up and out), the name just kinda stuck.

Good luck with getting a mate for your high class garage ornament.

Congrats! I bet it drives a lot faster now that your not draging around that payment book!

BTW, my SRT-6 is a "garage ornament" too. Ain't nothing wrong with having an Xfire in the barn for those special days.

Here is the story:

I had the speedometer up to 180 mph this morning, the tac was at 5,800 RPM and the car was solid as a rock, still pulling hard when I let off. With the car having 285's on the back, I would have been running 186 mph. Renntech tuned my ECU for 93 octane, I run 94 octane and they raise my redline to 6,200 RPM so I do think an SRT6 will hit the 200 mph mark, I got this following statement from a tire size calculator. --- When speedometer reads 60 mph (96.6 km/h) actual speed will be 62 mph (99.8 km/h): 3.3% faster. When speedometer reads 60 mph (96.6 km/h) actual speed will be 62 mph (99.8 km/h): 3.3% faster.

Thank you for that Gary. I just read through that entire thread. I felt the adrenaline flowing just reading it! I especially liked hearing most of them saying "It was rock steady" at those speeds, should I ever find the right place and time I'd like to experience 150+ in our coupe. I've only gotten to see those kinds of speeds when I took a 4 day high performance driving course at a N.Cal. raceway. Maybe it's time for a return visit there, but w/ the SRT this time. Bob
