Unhappy Another one down.

Yep, mine died today. Merging into traffic on an overpass and hit a spot of ice, car immediately went sideways. Tried to correct but it wouldn't grip, and it slammed into the concrete median divider. Airbags went off, that was a new experience. I don't think they hit my face though, I think the seatbelt kept me back tight enough. Wasn't going but 30-40 when it started sliding, so probably a little slower when I finally hit. No other cars hit me, but two cars got in a wreck about 10 cars back when everyone started hitting the brakes to dodge me and someone slid on the same ice patch. Nothing happened to me, which is good. The front bumper is pretty much toast though, and there was some fluid on the ground when the tow truck took it off, so not sure what insurance will say about it.

I'll try to get some better pics monday when I go to pick up a few things out of it. I was still shaky when I took these, both from the wreck and the fact that I was standing in cold wind without a jacket.

Glad you are OK kid....not use to ice down there I bet....cars can always be replaced, just be thankful for a good outcome...they will probably total the car...seems to be the going insurance thing here lately....

Glad you got out of it without injuries. Best of luck getting it repaired and back on the road. This is why my graphites hibernate for the winter.

Dude, sorry to hear about your loss. Hopefully, if you want another you
can find another. Glad to hear you didn't get hurt. Good luck with the
insurance company.

BTW, if they do total, you going to buy it back? If so, and you decide to
part it out, I might be interested in your stock SRT wheels if the price is
right.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune.
Icy roads claim many victims.
Bad things happen in one heck of a hurry.
Sounds as though you got to watch it all as if in slow motion.
Good to hear you were not injured.

Bummer but glad you're o.k. Now you understand why mine will sit in the shop all winter as much as I'd like to drive...

Very sorry to see this happen to anyone, but even more so w/ a fellow XF owner, but glad you're o.k. and weren't going too fast at the time. I was wondering, do the passenger side airbags take out the front windshield when they deploy? Or was that from the frame/body shift?

I'm sorry to hear about your accident. It's scary how a patch of ice appears out of nowhere, and there you go, sliding off the road.

Thanks guys. I still feel fine this morning, so hopefully nothing starts to hurt. I do think it was the airbag that broke the window, part of the dash was up against it where the airbag came out. Do you guys think it will be totaled? I know parts on the front are hard to get, but if that isn't the full value of the car, do they still total it?

And yea, ice sucks.

Sorry about your misfortune and glad you weren't hurt. From the looks of it, probably a total but it depends on the ratio in your state (damage to value).
I'd say you have an excellent chance of finding another one. I wish you well.

Dang, boy-you know what I told you about drivers down here?

I didn't think it would be you, though. Git'er fixed. Too nice to walk away from.

Happy to hear you could walk away!

wOW, why are SRT-6 accidents so common? If there is only 3,000 of these bad boys and it seems like we see one of these every month or so. I guess thats why the SRT insurance costs so much more than cars that have double the value.

Glad you are OK. It loolks very fixable. Hey I have an extra air bad that you could use to repair it. The savings would probably offset your deductable if they decide to repair it.
