replica SRT6 emblem
Hi,
I have a buddy in China who would be able to make replicas (exact copies) of the SRT-6 (both 05 and 06) emblems. Also with colorcode, i.e. gold/white, silver/blue, silver/yellow, silver/etc.
Today real ones ( at least the 06 one) cost $170 a piece. the PRC manufactured ones could be made and sold at a much better price. They could also make a lot of other parts but I could not come up with any except for the badges.
would there be any interest outthere?

i agree that the price of the oem badges are out of hand, but be forewarned, id bet that chrysler has much cooler lawyers than you do if you are planning on selling their trademarked logo

Also, forgot to mention... I'd be interested in the 05's (as an exact replica). Jesus does have a good idea with paint matching (the red in the logo would be graphite metallic, for example). That'd be cool.

it could be good looking. how many customers? approx 1000 at most on this forum. just make 4 batches. 1 like the oem, and the rest in the top 3 colors. ending up with 4 batches with 250. And yes, they would be sold buy someone in china I guess. Or really undercover. But I think the price of the OEM badges makes or car more desirable

But my contact said it was easy peasy to make replicas with as good quality as the OEM. I mean the SRT8 badge is costing $40 and the SRT6 $170 ... the difference of 2 cannot really be that much so I guess if the chinese put in about $35 in each badge they would get a good quality badge.

I would definitely buy at least a couple of these!

Well I think it could be a rather good product. shame that it have to be a knock off and thus illegal. The PRC friend of mine that I met during my study period at university said he would need a badge in order to make a mold. I am not into law but would there be any way around making these badges to be legal?

Come to think of it we already own some of it.

That said, I wouldn't have anything to do with copyright infringement by buying knockoffs from China.

I have given up the idea. Selling knock offs is not my cup of Tea. I watched the movie "knock-off" with van damme.

the old z-28 as well as the other muscle cars always had emblems on the rockers and front grille as well as the trunk lid. My two are dispaying the same. It took me 3 years to gather them...so, no, they aren't for sale. You just have to watch ebay, and rummage around for them. A few came from friends from the get togethers. I just about had new ones from my Chrysler dealer, but they held on to them, even though they are collecting dust...lol

Hey Doc,
There's a new company out there that is doing exact remakes of the cherolet emblems SS, Z-28 and some of the MOPAR. They are adding to their catalog every day. I can 't recall the name but now that you know they are available you could do a serach and not give up til they are found.
It's kind of easy to call it quits when you are not sure if a company exists but if you know they are out there it makes the search just that much easier. I saw their products on one of those weekend Garage shows that actually are more about advertising their sponcers than most anything else.
I know you said you found the emblems you were after but just in case you need any others.
Mike
