Default This is not good...

especially if you are at the drag strip! I went to the Friday night fun drags to test the Wavetrac LSD last night... one run and done!

13.54 @ 103mph.... loud squealing noise, CEL with P0300, P0302 & P0306 (multiple cyl missfires, cyl 2, cyl 6) and MIL status ON. The car is running normal coming back and seems fine when shut off and turned back on. Pop the hood and look around and see light oil spray on the passenger CAI... Time to go home. I had the data logger running so I look at it when I get home.... 11psi max boost.. I pulled the CAI this morning to get a look at the Y pipe and found the top clamp on the passenger side sitting up next to the intake plenum.. WTH?

When I went to put it back on it wouldnt stay... kept sliding off. Cleaned the rubber adapter and clamp with Naptha and then everything was good. Back on and tight...
The adapter pieces are 3" long and could use another inch to give the clamps more area and not be on the edge. Time to shop for 2 1/2" tube... of course I have a foot of 3" tube...

Maybe I'll get a better day next weekend... but it will be in the morning so it wont be 85 degrees! Unless Friday night is overcast and cool...

Sorry you had problems Mike. Luckily, it was nothing major. So, how did the LSD do on the burnout and launch? Or was the launch affected as well?

The burnout was good.. I did notice a difference in they way it finished the burnout...I could feel both wheels grab at the end.... the launch was affected and was soft... I did still beat the Fox body I was racing...

I bet the LSD will give you so much more confidence to do a proper burnout, and a strong hard launch. I am hoping to see some 1.6 and better 60's. Also, will be interesting to see if the drive shaft will be able to hold up to the stronger diff.

Thanks guys... Yes, I feel much better about my burnouts and launch now.. if I can hit 1.6 60' I will be very happy... that should translate into a VERY nice 11.xx run...

I feel better now cause I just finished washing it too.....

Here's the deal Mike...when we launch hard....motor torques over...the CAI will hit the top of the hood if you don't have it on just right...I remember Rob fixing mine at Woodward, when it was near the hood....they will come off....I check everything for tightness, before, during, and after any runs I do, or even if I go out and drive her hard like I did the roadster today...I was trying to stay with this illusive black "very loud" SRT6, that had the sound of a V-8 in front of me...two prominate black tires marks were left right in front of me from a simple kickdown...can you imagine what that thing might do....lol

Doc, it wasnt my CAI clamp that came off... it was off the Y output from the SC to the plenums....

I got it fixed this morning and then went out and bought some new tubing so I can replace the ones I have with ones that are longer and can get a better clamp (with margin)...

I tested my fix on the way home...... I still had the DR's on....the tires squeal a lot and both sides... no more funny sound coming from the engine or loss of boost..... next weekend I will get a good test of the LSD at the track.....

Edit: here is the data log from the test run....

Yeah, summer has finally come to Oregon... it is 89 on the back patio.... yesterday at the track it was 85... but being at the track makes up for it...

I think I will try next Saturday's ET races... great track prep and morning time runs should be in the 60's.....

I quess I should have read closer, and now have another area to check before we go play....damn...I may have to do what Steve suggests...put the hammer on those clamps....that would certainly cause a problem....well....let us know when you go test....1.60 60' times....would be great...and I Know personally the wavetrac works...I saw one in action today....

Wow, glad it wasn't anything major Mike. If anyone beats my 1.695 60' ft, please let me know. That of course is with my non-LSD rear end with a 2000 rpm launch.

I cut a 1.69x(lost my damn slip and can't remember the last number) at Mopars at the Strip this year here at LVMS............but I have a Phantom Grip in the rear.

PS T-bolt clamps are a must for anything under high boost.
